With your passion in photography, do go for it! It's good practice afterall.

The BIG problem is, the TS is looking for some1 who is experienced in taking this kind of situation and not one who is going there to practice and learn.

I wonder why the club owner is not paying you?

If this club is big enough to have fashion event, etc.....I am sure he can afford to pay a token for the poor chaps who travel all the way to shoot photos for him right?
Dont tell me those girls modelling on that night are catwalking free also?

Even waiters serving beer will be getting peanuts...photographers arent...
haha...thats funny to me!!!

You probably need a DSLR with fast lens and external flash for indoor disco lighting  .

Went to these kind of club/disco and shoot before, did enjoy the environment and 1 free drink. But it's difficult to get good photos.

Personally, some couples come in here and ask for photographers who are willing to charge a low rate...i can understand cos' some just cannot afford to pay $500 for a ROM shoot or $5000 for a wedding shoot.

But this fellow owns a club leh!!!!!!!!
Cant even afford to pay photographers?? Tell his bouncers to use PnS to shoot on that night lah!!
I am not against mr. paul goh, just the club owner!!!!!!!

Goes to show how the club regards photographers in the food chain? As you said, even the waiters get paid.....

He must be pocketing all the $$$ or if really doing for free... or else he's got to be taking all the credit for providing this club free photographers.

I think go there wash beer mugs better....... at least you still get paid.

Not really. If there is no black and white, and base on this thread where the thread starter have already stated in black and white, that the copyrights belongs to the photographer, the thread starter himself, the club owner or the event org will have no ownership of the copyright. The copyrights belongs to the creator of the image which is the photographer.

they only want digital image mah...so resize everything to 200px width with big watermark at the center, then save as jpeg level 5

if they need the original photo in future, you can slowly chop them like carrot and charge them per piece lor :bsmilie:

Can let me know where is the club .. will likes to go there for beer and watch the fashion show ... :)

beer is a good idea :) :)

shooting events and people partying is definately not my idea of photography ...

for those thinking this can improve or expand your portfolio/book, good luck, it won't happen. At best, you will find out how inacurate Canon TTL is. hahaha

Chill on the heavy words everyone!

I've been shooting for many clubs for the past 2 years and have covered alot of events (bashes, guest DJs, launches, NYE parties) and i must say that yes, shooting in clubs are not easy.

But still, a picture is worth a thousand words and i have had the honour of ppl coming up to me and telling me that my pictures do let them feel the vibe/atmosphere when they are not there.

Difficult environment? I mean its more like a difficult photographer i mean. Getting around these factors and knowing your equipment well is an added advantage. And sadly, i lost my 580ex at zouk just last week. it was a careless point on my part and sadly, i hope it never gets repeated.

But when i hear the thumping bass and the crowd jumping, its just amazing and beautiful when u see the moment captured.

Its just so hard to put into words and i'm still a regular photog at such clubs till a long time to come!

:)

But shooting inside clubs are indeed challenging. Sometimes you AF just can't make it even with AF assist... Lighting another headache... BUT... It's fun and exciting! Try down some drinks and shoot when your eyes are already abit OOF liao... Haha... Even dun shoot, still can sit down for drinks or see fashion show too... ohoh... At most use PnS or camera hp... I use my K750i to whack in DXO (Miss Bikini) also lor...

haha!

Thats the fun of it! Normally, a few vodka bitterlemons and i'm all geared up to go!

But smoke(not cigarette smoke, but heavy dense effect smoke) is the club photographer's greatest enemy.

heh.

Ya, pump flash then got one white patch, very ugly... OR Take tripod use ambience light lor... Challenging... Then fashion show do panning shots of the models... ohoh...
Saturday cannot drink, Sunday got TFCD.... ;p

I wanna go see fashion show :)

How much do I need to pay?

Thanks
