Photographers needed for assignment

Hi seniors,
I just have a thinking, are pros making so much money of photography ? All I've made by photography is just a few CCA points from NUS ( they "pay" me 1 point for 3 hours of covering event, but 40 points may help me to stay in campus) and 100 bucks :). For local students, yea, it is easily to get a few hundreds for allowance a month, but for others, they just have 100-200 for a month :). It's a part-time job, after all :). 12.5$/h compare to waiter @ 5$/h ? It is definitely better :D.
Everybody once was a newbie. If you don't get a low-paid, easy work, how comes you have a thousands++ assignment ?
I either don't like this kind of assignments, but I think CS should be a place for everybody, not just for pros
Regards

p/s: if anybody need a part-time photographer assistant, my rate is just about 7-10$/hours :D

are u sure u dun like..? he pays better than wad u are asking for you know...

yeap, but doing Photographer assistant can help me more or less improve my skill. Learning and earning money in the same time. But wearing like a clown is suck. I can take picture, can ask for particulars , but ask me to wear like that is unacceptable.

Meaning is.... paying you ($12-$10)= $2/hr to clown around with your camera not enough lah... :) So whats the market rate for that now?

Just joking :P

yea, I heard some are doing that kind of job for 10-20$/hour :)
take a look at newest WTD637 --> you get paid for that ?

No offense to newbies

But we also have to blame the supply. Dslr's are very affordable. Thus more hobbist are joining in and wannabe's are popping up.Its always fun to learn for everyone but there are ppl that try to have a fast one taking up jobs for exp as so there can fast forward trying to make a career and make it part of their resume. If they take the time to learn talent and skill will they have in the years to come. There is no shortcut.

Let the cheapos photogs be.Its just a passing phase in their life. Sad but true it does ruin the market for the good photographers.I saw yesterday a granny using a mk III near bugis shooting . Right b4 that i was covering an event and at least 3 staffs pulled Pro Dslr's and started taking pics and blocking my way ...I was like WTH! but at least im paid lol.

@ num3ga : I'm a newbie, and I'm taking that "shortcut".
Yes, there is no shortcut. But for a newbie and also a hobbist, how can we get on well with lighting equipment ? or pro DSLR ? or even a suitable lens for the situation? or even a mentor to help ? or a chance to have an assignment ?
Being an assistant is the best way to help us, you pros have cheap labour, we newbie have experiences and quite a money for equipment. is there anything wrong here ?
Talent and skill will come by time, but hard-working make it come in a faster and more meaningful way.

ok guys, those who are interested in taking up this assignment, pls get in touch with the TS.
