Photog / Videographer needed for charity home

Hi everybody,

I am volunteering with a charity home that cares for end-stage cancer patients, and also runs a daycare centre for children with terminal illnesses.

We are looking for volunteer photographers to help build a photo library.
These pictures will be used to update their website, and also for publicity materials such as press releases.
Candidates should be mature and sensitive, as they will be working with terminally-ill children. (This assignment will take place BEFORE 14th Oct)

In addition, we are also seeking photographer and videographer for an upcoming Open House event at this charity home on 14th October (Saturday). Event will last approx 4-5hours.

This is an excellent opportunity to add another dimension to your portfolio, and also use your photography skills for a good cause.

hi felicia, did u check with the home if they allow the photos to be used for the photographer's portfolio?

not all parents will agree to this...pls note..just speaking from experience.

It is indeed heartwarming to see so many pro videographers and photographers assisting in this meaningful project. At least, this is one thread tat dun get flaming for asking free photography...

From what I can see, you have a lot of volunteer photogs already. I don't mind being on the 'reserve' list as I am an amateur.

I apologise to those who tried sending me a PM but failed -- i only have quota for 10 msgs, and it was (thankfully) filled very quickly.

I will be in touch with the respondents over the next couple of days. Pls be patient with me.

Answers to some questions:

1) Regarding parents -- we will photograph the kids/patients whose parents/families have given prior consent for use of these pictures as part of website/informational brochures.
However, it might not be appropriate to use the portraits of these kids as part of the photographer's portfolio.
These kids are terminally-ill and are not likely to be around anymore in a couple of months so not all parents may not be comfortable with the idea of someone using their kids' photos as portfolio per se.

That said, this assignment also entails more generic shots which will be appropriate for your own use.

We understand and appreciate your time and effort, and hope to let this be a meaningful addition to your portfolio as well.
In return, we seek your understanding that this is literally an project concerning life & death, so there will be restrictions on the use of the photographs.

Exact copyright details will be agreed upon with candidates prior to the assignment.

2) I will provide the name of the home when I contact you.
The admin staff are a bit wary of having the name of the Home published online, cos previously when an appeal was made for volunteers, they were inundated with tonnes of phone calls and couldn't really cope with the queries.
