Perhaps early warning should be given for maintenance of the site

Like in the case of last night, the site just went into maintenance mode at about 10 pm. Could announcement have been made earlier as early-warning? :bsmilie:

Actually I agree that if it is an unexpected maintenance, we should not question it.
Even so, what's a few hours to one day of maintenance? If it serves to make the site better for all of us then it's cool yeah.

CS admin usually will give advance notice for scheduled maintenance.

yeah man. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't get my usual late night doses of latest CS forums. I'm on BBB mode now. Glad it was ok when I first wake up.

Last night's database maintenance (or rather, urgent repairs) was not planned. Forums was still accessible but new threads/posts were turning up blank. Site was hence closed for repairs which took much longer than expected to complete (2 hours!!) and that could not be helped either.

Sorry but no chance for any warnings in such cases. For scheduled maintenances, an announcement will always be (and has always been) made beforehand.
