Dun have.. DS is a year old.. so they could have show the DS2 instead.. but i think they wanted to capture the Prosumer market with DL....

yes,

that's why i said they "could" have show DS2....;)

Maybe they will bring in at later stage?

Hi
The istDL is selling at around $960 now but the isdDL2 is selling for around $1299.
I see the major difference is the 5 point focussing. Does it make that much difference to justify costing 30% more?
btw, anyone can share their experiences with the DL and DL2? seems there are not many owners here. the newspapers are almost always on Canon, Nikona and Olympus...
cheers

I am going for the DL very soon, I have had a fiddle with it during the IT show and the lens and body felt fantastic, I think the price is really how it should be....anyhting above 1000 for a entry level cam is just outrageous. Knowing myself, I probably will use it as it is , with the basic lens and maybe another longer lens later, so it works for me, but for those people who see themselves buying all sorts of Accessories, Pentax might not be a good choice.

BTW, where did you get the price of 960? I ask CP last week and they still quoted me 999

I think it depends of what sort of accessories.. i have a number of lenses, TC, Extension Tube, Flash, Hand-grip, etc.. so i'm not sure what other accessories you need for a camera.. its just a tool, not a christmas tree.. ;) hope you dun mind.. just kidding.. but you will like Pentax.. no regrets..(for me lah...not sure of others.:D )

alan photo at Funan..I was browsing for a lap top bag and entered the shop..there were a couple of youngsters trying it out and I asked them how much they were quoted...they said $960...not sure if AP typically include gst in their price or now. otherwise would have cost $1008. btw, MS Color quoted me $980 but you need to order and get it later.
I think AP is actually an official distributor as their receipes sometimes have Pentax printed on it...

not really, I would call myself a "non-prefessional" DSLR user...so to keep costs low, I would like stick to the stock lens and maybe one more telephoto later on....
the under-1000 price is really really attractive man..I would have gone for the Konica-Minolta 5D because iof its stablised CCD but with the future now uncertain..i have to give it a miss.

My fren wants to sell his DL bought at IT Show. So he went around asking for price at lucky plaza and sim lim they quote $990 to $1010(standard package with lens) and $1090 to $1120(std pkg+lens with card or bag) all price inclusive of 5% gst

why is he selling? something wrong?
in anycase, most people here already knows the camera cost $999 at the IT show and lower at the usual low cost camera shops. places at lucky plaza will quote higher as they are focussed on tourists...
what price is he asking for?

nice...how can we tell which lenses can be used on a pentax with full features?
cheers

You look at the current Sigma line up of lens. When there is a Pentax K mount, the lens is full featured, same as Pentax lens.

mm..seems I am the odd one out! everyone I know wants humongous camera bodies..even the 350D was considered too small for them. the minimum was something tank like like the D70....but for me, the smaller the better. I've held a camcorder and man, after 30 min, it really feels heavy in your hand, so small size and weight is important. the pentax may not be the lightest but its the smallest and cheapest ! :-)

but your friend's camera is definitely priced not to sell...As I have said earlier, AP is offering the DL at $960. I'd rather pay $10 more and get a guaranteed brand new one...
I think your friend would have better luck offering around $850...
as for me, I am looking for a few months old model, something in the range of $600+ ;)

Well, i like my DS for its Compact.. I got the grip for firmer gripping, and for vertical shoot..

Maybe everyone just wanna to be term as "pro" by using a LARGE camera... (no offence)
