interesting post. I don't mind telling you guys why I am considering Pentax. This is because of its reputation of producing quirky lenses that is valued by fine art photographers. It doesn't matter if the lens is not too sharp or fast or lacks a lot of other qualities. I value little quriks that allows photographs with unique character to be produced. So does pentax really live up to this reputation?

Yes it does.
so are u going to get?

yes i shall when i get my salary.. :)

I've been a Pentax user for 15 or so years. They have some excellent optics. Recently switched systems to Canon only because Canon makes the best DSLR bodies around (not tried Leica's R9 with D back). However, I've used some pentax lenses that are superior to some of my Canon L lenses. Sadly I cannot keep two systems so I'm selling off my Pentax *ist D and 5 lenses (3 Tokina ATX Pro, Pentax-mount) so for all those who rightly say that Pentax lenses are hard to come by, here's your chance to grab a really good deal. Contact me at 97990027.

erm.. do you guys know where or how can I contact pentax serivce center?

vernonleow

can you descride the lenses?
focal length, whether zoom or fixed, macro or not, aperture.

When you go to the agent
You will know why my friend gave up using Rollei
and many almost gave up using Leica - WHEW!!! so lucky for us that JJ lost the agency for Leica back to Schmidt Scientific. :)
and why some give up Pentax

Not because the equipment is no good.

Anyway, after you have experienced the frustration, anger and disappointment with the agent first hand and in person, come back and tell us about it.

We will say -- so what else is new? That is expected of this agent. We told you so :bsmilie:

hi I've got the following...

Pentax FA 100mm Macro F2.8 Used but optically very good. I feel this is a better lens than my current new Canon one.

Pentax FA 200mm F2.8 This is a very very rare lens. Needs cleaning.

Tokina ATX Pro 20-35mm F2.8 Optically very good.

Tokina ATX Pro II 28-70mm F2.6-F2.8 Optically very good.

Tokina ATX Pro 80-200mm F2.8 Optically very good.

Tokina ATX 28-70mm F2.8 Needs cleaning. FREE with purchase of above-mentioned lenses.

Pentax *ist D with Vertical grip. Used very little for 6 months before I switched systems.

All these are on the buy/sell forum. Buy all together to get a better deal.

Too bad you are giving up your system. But then I think the price you had tagged is on the high side. It may take sometime for those to be sold at your requested price.

Prices negotiable. Package deal welcome. Willing to listen to offers. Inspect items and you'll find it's a really good deal.

I too heard lots of bad things about J&J. But I had no choice, and so I sent in my AF500FTZ flashgun for a repair this March.

Surprise surprise! It was quick, polite, and efficient. Inclusive of waiting for parts to be shipped in from Japan, it only cost me one month and $150.

So my guess is that they are changing for the better, in view of the probably more lucrative money coming in from Pentax digital products?
