Pentax K-X

so im i right to say 50-200 is good enough for walkabout-shooting ?
another thing is i own a restaurant and need a lens for dishes-shooting like macro.. can i use the dual lens kit as well ?
sorry all brothers im really a noob to dslr

You don't actually need a macro lens to do this. You just need to stand the desired distance away from your subject (ie. the food).

any ideas how much will a macro lens cost ? jus a normal one will do

S$600+ onwards new. Can find used or older lenses on eBay too.
Worse to the worse just shoot with the kit lens and crop the image...

anyone can share wad are the accessories i need to buy when buying a dslr camera ?
and wad is need to protect the camera
thanks alot

30L dry cabinet to store your gear when not in use-$105-$128
Filters-$10 to $50 for a basic UV
Camera bag-$30-$100
Cleaning kit(lenspen/blower/cloth)-$10-$50
Batteries-$40

Close-up filter is mainly for macro photography. Each time after you shoot(finished shooting),then unscrew the filter:)

It will work.
Note that auto-focus doesn't work too well with close-up filters.

Well if it fits the filter thread of your lens (i.e. 52mm) then it will work.
It's just not as easy to use as a real macro lens where you can just compose, focus, shoot.
With close-up filters your focus distance range becomes very limited so you have to calculate or trial and error how far the object has to be. Then it gets tricker if you use a zoom lens where the actual focal length can change when the lens is set to close focus.

business 101, do things that you are best at. leave the non-core fringe activity to the experts in their area.

like, engage creampuff to train your staff to be photographers or direct engage his service!! :bsmilie:

for the record, i am no agent of CP.

hi everyone! i actually have k-x in mind and planning to buy at the end of this mth... but what i'm troubled abt is shld i just get the single kit lens or de dual one??? cos i'm actually not sure wat does the lens means? like 18 to 55 or 50 to 200??? can anyone explain for me?? thanx!!!!
becos i think the single kit lens is enough for me to do some street photography and some sceneries right?????

and also... if say i'm also interested in filters.... do they come in a pack of different kinds? and what else is needed in order to fit the filters? an adaptor???

hope i can get a reply... cos i'm kinda noob =X

Well, if you are looking at value for money, it cost $899 for 2 lenses an 18-55mm and 50-200mm. If you get a single lens the 18-55mm it cost you $782. I don't know how good is the 50-200mm lens but it is just a additional $117. If like me you wished to get a longer reach you have another option of getting a 55-300mm instead of the 50-200mm lens but cost a bit more.

So depends on what you see as value to you, you maybe right if you will never use the 50-200mm range than just go get with the single kit 18-55mm.

As for filters, there are so many types but if you plan to get as protection for the front element the 18-55mm comes in 52mm screw thread size, I am not sure about the 50-200mm lens what screw thread size but the 55-300mm lens comes in 58mm screw thread size.

If you plan to do street and night photography,a flash and tripod might be essential to you.50-200/55-300 is mainly for birding or for longer reach.

18-55 kit lens will do.For filters, there are screw-on types which are the most common.Just get a basic UV filter to protect your lens will do:)

P.S You should visit the newbies corner and read up on the stickies.

If so noob just stick with PnS lah... :bsmilie: Seriously dont just buy because you think it looks cool or something ...

Jokes aside you might want to read up more on phtography ...

The 18-55 ,50-200,55-300mm are the focal length of the lenses the higher the number the more magnified the image becomes , the smaller the number the wider angle of view you will get .
So basically at 18mm its wide angle and you could say take a group shot from just a few metres away but at 200mm you will get headshots and portraits . Its like zooming in layman terms....

As for the filter they are just pieces of glass that can be screwed into the filter thread on your lens , mostly they are just used for protection and you have to buy them individually .
There are however special filter such as nuetral grad and polarising filter which you might want to read up on.

As for the single or dual kit it depends on what you want to shoot ,but i will always say get the dual kit as if you dont need the extra reach of the lens you can always sell it .

Anyone of you encounter shooting RAW in multishot on Patriot LX Series 32gb? Becos whenever i shoot RAW in multishot, the camera will state busy and then a while later, the of error "The Card Cannot Be Accessed, Please Reinsert/Format the Card" appear. Anyway, i just brought it to the distributor for 1-for-1 exchange but stock not yet arrive, shall monitor again.....btw, i did send an email to the Patriot customer support.
I take it your KX was with new firmware?

My K20D can use it fine..

1)Try OP/CP/John for stocks for a slightly higher price.$782 is the cheapest already.

2)That should be Kevin

3)If you wanna take videos then buy a camcorder, don't buy DSLR.

4)Digi-Cabi 30L costs from $105(Parisilk)-$128(Challenger)

May I know $782 is for Kx and 18 55mm, what is the second lens focal length?
Thanks Ya.....
