The last time, I exchanged two times with the shop but still see the problem.

Brought it to Convergent and they gave me a replacement (blister packed, and made in Japan) - works fine after that.

kuuan, check your colour space. Are you shooting in sRGB or Adobe RGB?
Check your default Lightroom settings. In the Develop panel, look at the Camera Calibration pane and note which profile you're using.
Check if your monitor is calibrated when you're doing post processing.
If you think it's a camera issue, check the settings you're using and perhaps reset the camera to default and proceed from there.

I am shooting Adobw RGB ( and do not convert to sRGB for uploading, which I should? )
I have been using earlier versions of Lightroom which do not have the profile for the K-x
Now I tried to developed some with the software bundled with the camera and I got much better results:

I try to get the latest Lightroom to see how that fares.

Looks like some conservative metering. Trying adding some fill lights and maybe extra exposure. Probably want to add saturation and/or vibrance, and some contrast.

I've noticed that if you convert RAW without any post processing you will generally get dull results, so you'll probably want to get a good feel of what works best for you and keep a setting. Otherwise, stick with JPEG only.. the camera default JPEG processing is actually quite a lot better than RAW converted without processing.

right, the pic e.g with the 3 ladies is underexposed. Actually I am using almost only M42 lenses, here it was the Super Takumar f1.9/85mm. With the *istDs Av mode was ok. With the K-x I have had problems using Av mode, this particular photo was taken with +3 exp. bias but still turned out underexposed. I learned now that with the K-x I better use M mode and green button to meter, not Av mode.

It seems that RAWs of the K-x do need more tweaking than those of the *ist. I may start using jpeg more now.

my 'darkish' images have been result of poor exposure and poor PPing.
my later trials look better. I may still prefer tonality of *istDs, but that may be because I have to get used to the difference, or just a personal thing.

Edit: Not familiar with the old lenses. Just did some reading up on the M lenses and realised now why you are facing issues in modes other than M mode:

Suggest you use sRGB rather than Adobe RGB. You'll see an immediate difference.
The Adobe RGB has a wider gamut but will appear drab as most output on screen is targeted towards sRGB.

Metering tells the camera how much exposure the scene needs.
The exposure modes (Tv, Av, etc) tells the camera how to get that amount of exposure.
Cameras control 3 things to control exposure - shutter speed, aperture and ISO.
Tv allows you to control shutter speed and the camera will calculate what aperture and ISO to use (assuming ISO is auto)
Av allows you to control aperture and camera will calculate what shutter speed and ISO to use (assuming ISO is auto)

Actually when I bought the cam at SLR revo , the 1st card also have the problem . they change 1 on the spot . After go home saw the same issue.

anyway I went CONVERGENT SYSTEMS yesterday , and they really change a Japan one to me (previously Taiwan)

hopefully will not see the problem again

Hi all , I got this problem that mKX doesn't detect my SD card when I on my camera .

It will show memory card error . When I off it and re-on it , the error will gone .

Anyone encounter this problem ? was it a norm ? using 8G kindston SDHC class4

same here. Its the memory card faulty. Changed the memory card and the error is gone. Kingston as yr free gift like me i suppose?

I think batch related ba . Anyway really thanks a lot for yr advice . If not i might really waste my time to go back SLR revo to exchange the same batch of problematic memory card

Yeah the shrink packs sell out fast, after that have to buy standard package or wait for more shrink pack stocks to come in

Maybe u accidentally locked the Memory card? yesterday I accidentally locked it and when put it in, the camera sayd Memory Card Error. Then I took out, I put back still the same. I kancheong, but realized maybe I locked it. Coz for like my panasonic, it will say Memory card locked. So when I unlocked the card, then its ok.

Just my newbie experienced. ;p

The problem I have experienced is sometimes there is error and sometimes there is no error.

When there is error, you on and off a few times it works fine again.

Why I thought it is the memory card problem; is I tried my other SD cards they all work fine.

No lah . confirm not lock . As what wong had say , if lock is no matter how many time off and on still will see the error. But our case is when u re turn off and on the error will disappear .

Somemore , I follow Wong method , after exchange to a "Japan" card , problem really disappeared .

oh there i have same problem showing memory card error on and off. went slr revo one to exchange for a new one problem persist. think next week wan to make a trip to Convergen. hope this will help the memory card error. by the way before go down do i need to call to make any appointment or to check for stock availability? anyone pls advice?

yup. No receipts nothing . Just go down b4 6.45pm (weekday) then can liao
