Saw quite a range over there but the prices seems a little high especially the 18-50mm non-Macro lens. Apparently, they were only showing and not selling there...sigh...

Just bought my K10D with dual kit from MS. The price is $1799 with tamrac bag and 1GB. I'd asked for installment so added 5% to the price. I'm a happy man

Just wondering... anyone manage to bargain anything from Cathay Photo on the K10D package? Like lower price or kit only without freebie?

congrats! wecome to the wonderful world of pentax! don't want to pour cold water but it is STRONGLY recommended to buy on the last day. prices are slightly lower or you get more free gifts...eg like 2GB card instead of 1GB..
I bought my K100D at last year's PC show but pestered the shriro guy to give me the "last day" offer...after some checks with his boss, they agreed!

Thanks I'm not so sure last day offer will be that "much" better. Before IT show I went Cathay to ask for K10D dual kit and was qoute $1890 with 1GB free, but they don't have stock. When I asked when the stock will arrive, they say that promotion maybe over. They then quote me K10D kit with 1GB & tamrac bag + 50 - 200mm for $1980.

I'm more concerned that what they say about K10D dual kit promotion over. So I rather get a set while MS still have them.;p Rugi a bit nvm lah. Anyway going to get a higher speed SD.;p

The free gifts are good considering the price. I wanted to get it, but ended buying the Fuji A610 for $199. MS salesman said that Pentax normally don't make pns as well as Fuji.

Good to hear more about the last day offer you got last year if you don't mind sharing?
Was talking to my friend who is keen on getting her first DSLR and leaning toward K10D but she's clueless over camera thus asking me to help her to get a good offer.
Was seriously wondering if they might lower the price of the package from 1699 to say... 1499 or lower with the freebie on the last day?

Looking at this, the kit lens seems abit expensive ?

it is important to see what other things the ITfair can offer given the competitive prices "outside"

3 days back i called up 3 shops to get a verbal quote and this is what i have in hand...
Keep in mind is K10D i'm asking for...

Stock wise - all mentioned they have ready stock at point of time i called.

As for the bundle "freebie", value seem not worth it to take the package at 1699...

23l Dry Cab - $60? (est as i got a 30l DC before at $70, no warranty 1st hand)
2GB SD X 2 - $70? (presuming it's normal SD which cost $30+ per 2GB)
Cleaning kit - $15? (how expensive can the free cleaning kit be?)
LCD protector - $10? (i'm sure it's not those famous Da protector which cost $20+?)
Card reader - $15? (unless they give a firewire interface which cost close to $100?)
Card storage box - $15? (If Vaja leather case, might worth more than $60)
Battery - $65?
Total worth of "freebie" comes up to about $300 vs claimed value of $500.

Taking MS price for just the kit, it's about $20 bucks of saving with those freebie which one might not need all. ($1420 + $300) vs $1699.

If only the price at IT show goes lower... say 1599 or even 1499 on the last day, only then i see "value" in getting it from the show...

Pardon me for being such a cheapo as i was "assigned" to help my friend to scout for a good bargain for her first DSLR... oh well... tough job... hiaz... :embrass:

Oh well... since the price is not any better at this show and the 2 promoters over at the counter are not helping at all when i was there last night, guess it's ok to wait for the show to be over and get it from retailers instead.

Believe the price will remain at that level for a while...
