Pentax cameras...are they history?

I am wondering why clubsnap does not have a seperate forum for Pentax?? You can see Fujifilm, sony even Panasonic fans can have one. But which brand covers from Medium format camera to consumer DC with arrond 80 years history?

hi all

for what i know j and j just got their marketing budget this year for pentax cameras. thats y can see all those S5i and S50 adverts around. i guess pentax views singapore as too small a market and j and j virtually gets nothing for their marketing funding... Unlike canon or sony.

Hope they will buck up for this quarter.

Flare control is very good,
I've reckon to this lens, due to it's super-multi-coated.
campare with the super takumar and auto takumar lenses.

The Pentax SMC & Takumar lenses are really solid stuff. As evident by my earlier days of photography where NOBODY at the color lab belived that the photos are taken with a Pentax. All tot is was Nikon, until I took out my stuff and showed them.....

90% lens quality and 10% kung-fu of the lensman ?

those 2 DSLR are too little too late and too expensive for what is it's worth...

that was why I moved to Canon.... join the Bengs if you like to say, I rather do this and have all the options open.....

Pentax LX is one of the all-time best Professional manual SLR that have a small footprint and lightweight. It had better built-quality than Nikon FM2/FM3a. It is also one of the best seal camera in manual cameras.

I was bored the other day and won two M42 lenses on ebay. Now I need to find a body for the lenses.

But in these many years, I have met only 1 serious pro using the LX . That was during Asean Aerospace, a Japanese with the entire fleet of lenses.... he was kind enough to let me look thru the camera with them.... but too heavy for my handling lar....

I was refering to the tua pows (lenses). Took his lens and put on my camera for a few shots.....

Way too expensive. Also I think they use mecury battery and CdS cell. U can get a KX/MX with adapter if you want and it can use modern k-mount too. If you need a cheap modern feature body with M42, maybe look at Fujica ST801.

It's there for donkey years liao. He quoted $800 before when I ask. Typically a LX in ebay is selling ard US$400+ It's the king of mechanical slr. :devil:

I afraid that it is very difficult to sell nowadays at this price point. Anyway, is Pentax still repairing the LX?

Thanks guys. I just won a mint condition Spotmatic II on ebay. Should get it in a week or two.

Frankly I am not attracted by the newer Pentax. I already have a set of Nikon based digital and film cameras. It's the retro feel and build of the old Pentax that I find intresting.

I saw the Spotmatic at Lucky Chinatown too. Quite obscene the prices. There is a black spotmatic with lens in used condition being sold in ebay.com.sg. Starting at less then $150. Those intrested might want to browse it.
