haha still shoot negs on the rolly, but only rolly for slides these days.. loving the colors I'm getting, makes the neg shots seem inferior.. haha

I would attempt a shot of him painting the street, with the same street on the background. Can never try to mimic similar color on digital cameras even if this is a scanned(digitized) version. Excellent colors here!

tks mate for the pointer.. looking back I'd have loved to try getting that shot.. but think the limited space behind the uncle and angle he's positioned would have been a little restrictive though..

Mr Tan Kok Oo of Nyona Beaded Shoes on Armenian Street, painstakingly working on his latest creation.

Hey bro, these are awesome. Love the story-telling element!
I almost feel like I know him and I can feel his dedication to this time-honoured labour of love.
The vintage Singer sewing machine reeks of heritage. His wiry topless frame speaks of hard-work. His charmingly cluttered table hints at the consummate craftsman that he is.
Just a man, devoted to his craft, no frills, no ego. Great stuff!

Oh and a fun fact, my Nonya neighbor says that genuine beaded shoes can go up to a few thousand dollars!
It's due to the insane level of details and workmanship required to craft a pair. Imagine that!

My mom still does them by hand;)

Props to your mom! I bet she whips up some killer nonya dishes too.
Damn and it's dinner time, salivating.
