400+? damn that is so much cheaper than here.

thinking of using one to protect my gear and to protect my laptop. Used to work in the airport here so I have seen how they treat some of the supposed "delicate" items. Quick check with the prices here is about 1.8 times more.

Anyone got recommendations on either the divider or the cube cushion system?

Hi, u may want to check out the distributer of pelican cases in Singapore
www.marvid.com.sg
They have the cube cushions where you can do your own "pick and mix". The male salesperson is quite friendly too, get chummy with him and he'll show you his collection of lasers

hard to get chummy with him when I am a few thousand miles away :bsmilie: but thanks for the link, it helps to know. :)

It depends on ur needs and requirement, really. But do bear in mind dividers are more expensive than pinch-foam.

If ur equipment to be put in rarely changes, pinch-foam might be a cheaper solution, but if the stuff to be put in changes frequently, or u intended to put different things according to needs, divider option might be better as it allows u to change the configuration easily.

Been there done that with the pinch foam, they will deteriorate over time and it will get really messy and you'll have bits and pieces of foam all over your equipment. Personally, now I just go with the padded dividers. As AJ23 mentioned, the padded dividers allow you to change configurations and customise it to specific needs. I think it will be cheaper in the long run, a little more expensive now, but think of the aggravation you'll save when you aren't picking crap off your equipment.

Have you looked into Stormcases? There is a guy in Adelphi that sells them, i think they are much better and a little cheaper than the Pelicans. I have 5 Stormcases love using them. Another thing the latches aren't the knuckle buster ones that Pelican uses and they are made by Hardigg, the company that makes cases for military applications.

Check their site out http://stormcase.com/

Just for those who think I am trying to sell the Stormcases, not I'm not. I just want to share my experience from using them.

Hondasleeper, ty for sharing. Stormcase looks good. :)

one more vote for storm cases. I'm using one over here now for traveling as i can check them in if necessary. besides, a camera bag with wheels is always nice!

looks really good, but then dont think it is being sold in JP. especially near where I am. :( I did find the pelican 1510 but then I would prefer the divider as well. prob need to do a special order. :(

nevermind. just found it. but how much is the prices over there? Japan is about 400+ slightly cheaper than the pelican of the same size.

Ur S$400+ is the pinch-foam or the divider option?

pinch foam, I am also leaning in favor of the divider but it costs a lot more.

Then it's about the same price, with SG's price a bit cheaper.

hmmm thanks.....now have to plan budget. so many things to get/to send/to prepare. Arggh1!!!!

I agree that foam should be avoided in this case.

Thanks for the Stormcase link, may I know which floor at The Adelphi sells them ?
