Too bad photobucket only allow 1024px by 768 max, otherwise this would have been a nicer 6337 by 520 image

This is a comparison of true Earthshine (left) with "eclipse Earthshine" (right).

For true Earthshine, light is reflected off the Earth onto the unlighted part of the moon.

For "eclipse Earthshine", the Earth is in no position to cast reflected light onto the moon. The light hitting the unlit part of the moon is from the sun travelling and refracted through the Earth's atmosphere. Hence its reddish tinge.

WOW! You manage to capture the whole process of the eclipse... I was too lazy and only capture till just after the greatest eclipse. Still try to find time to process all of the images... around 500++ images. Hope to create a series of lunar eclipse like yours... :)

Have a nice day.

Hi,
I didn't notice that the moon turned reddish
It does turn a bit reddish during the period around the greatest eclipse... start from around 4:45am. It's not obvious because of the lit part of the Moon is still very bright and human eye are not very good at detecting colour on dim object which is the unlit part of the Moon, but camera don't have this problem.

Have a nice day.
