oh btw this is what AP at funan is offering
Panasonic FZ5 - S$662 with free SD 256 + Case
Upgrade from SD 256 to SD 512 high speed - S$40
Upgrade from SD 256 to SD 1GB high speed - S$90

hi ahchew,

i'll be getting a fz5 soon too!

btw I don't think the upgrade from a 256 to 1GB high speed is worth it. I got my Adata 1GB high speed from active foto at sls for $96.

better to keep a 256 as spare. ;)

point taken! i will keep my 256mb! so where are you goin to buy from???

haven't decided yet. and i dunno if i can grab a good deal at sitex next wed. but ya if I can't it'll probably be AP or MS. or whichever shop that will give me an irresistable offer lah.

just got my fz5. :)

first impressions: it does feel light, but cheap. also, the lens extension/retraction speed seems to be slower than the fz1 I was using. and I dislike the new 3D-ed user interface.

is there anyway I can sort of d/l a UI that is similar to the older cameras? thanks.

haha well we all started of not knowing anything. haha i'm a fz5 user. u can get a uv filter at cp for onli 18? or lesser tokina brand one... the other brand cost a cool 50 bucks wow... but the tokina one works well. u need the adapter included with the camera to screw in the filter. the lens cover can be used for the filter too. but remember, with the filter and adaptor, u need a bigger bag though.

think sintex will be the best time to grab sd cards. usually there sells rather good prices. i using kingston elite pro 512mb cos $58 from the kingston booth at comex. it's veri much faster then the slower normal sd card. u can feel the difference in the time of loading of pictures jus taken to the sd card. its better to get 2 512 cards than get one gb imo. after all they cost around the same price.

hi, i intend to get either this cam or the olympus sp-310/sp-500....so how is this cam comparable to the other 2?? how's the night shots?? ani other stuff i gotta buy fer this cam?? now i using nikon 3100 intending to change to a more manual feature camera...cause i hope to get a cam to bring to hk fer mi trip cause i tink mi old cam cant make it..can advise?? thxs

Hi guys, decided to get this cam too.

Currently Bally Photo offering at $662 after GST which is standard but they give free 512 card and case. Thats the difference between AP and MS...

I see the bargaincity web is $787.50 after GST. They provide extra 256 card, Panasonic case, OEM batt, cleaning kit, large tripod for the extra $126 i am paying. Is that a good deal?

I am interested in getting a large tripod, but i am no hard core photog, so what good and cheap ones are available?

and btw, is this an all-weather cam? Whats the operating temp like and what if there's rain? Not advisable to use then?

there is no super zoom camera in the market that has all-weather body.when is raining, can use if you know how to cover the camera.
operating temperature from the manual is 0-40 degrees but that also depends on the operating humidity of 10%-80%
but seriously i think it won't function under 10 degrees thats why i'm not bringing to japan.
the cheapest tripod i bought was $15 at mustafa.

thanks. I am also guessing that most digicams don't operate below 0 degrees?

hmm was wondering, what flash option on a fz5 is equivalent to a 'fill flash'? thanks.

Actually that time when I went to Korea, it was under zero degrees and quite a number of tour members' cameras 'hang'. Doesn't matter if it's compact, professional, digital or manual. Sometimes it just depends on your luck. haa!!! Like my very old minolta manual consumer cam that I brought to japan mt fuji eons ago, and again to NZ snow mountain, it works perfectly. My friend's Olympus mju all weather cam also worked perfectly in korea. I actually put a heat pad in my bag with my Canon S50 camera for the aforementioned korea trip and it worked perfectly. To play safe, you can always go get those heat pads/warmers from the winter shops and put them with your camera to keep it warm.

Save up that $126 and get your choice of brand. I like kingston elite pro card and eastgear oem batt at inforcom, funan.

actually is because of the lcd which means liquid crystal display and just like when liquid freezes to solid and reverse.when my friend was back after japan, her lcd may have crack inside and some pixels went dead.
