Panoramic Stitching Software

Hi guys, I'm thinking of trying out panoramic shots, I would like to know which stitching software is the one you guys prefer, and which is the most reliable of the lot. Thanks

One of the best is probably PTGUI, its not free but I do believe there is a demo version available.

THe one offered by PHotoshop CS is not bad ... Rather automatic ..
If you are into open source can try hugin ... but I have not had much success with it

skip photoshop's photomerge nonsense, it is one of the most painful ways to stitch panoramic images ever

PT Gui is kinda expensive though. EUR 79 for the personal license, right?
Unless I accumulate all my intended pano shots and then do them all together during the 30 day demo trial!
for a casual pano shooter like myself, it works out to a lot of $$ per pano shot!

Love Photoshop photomerge for the simplicity, but i would think stitching more complicated distorted panos will be trickier since the level of user control is not as refined as some other dedicated softwares.

Hi guys, thanks for all the replies. I went for a test shoot last night. So i've decided to try it with Canon's photomerge. lol

I understand the rule of pano, is the exposure has to be constant, the focus as well right? So i shot it in manual, 2 shots side by side, my interval degree is about 15 degrees? Everything came out fine except that the difference in the sky is rather obvious.

Since it was a night pano, the sky is supposed to be dark, however there was a slight difference in the level of darkness for my sky. Any tips?

Back to topic: I think I'll try this Ptgui

Photoshop Photomerge for my vote as find it more reliable comparing to Canon Stitch s/w

But heard PTGUI is not bad as well....

you need to
fixed your focusing,
fixed the exposure by using manual mode,
fixed the White balance

and have overlapping of about 30% of the images.

for your case, it could be your interval between the shots are too long, the lighting changes.

Best not to fix polarisers as well. Especially for wide angle stitches.
GNDs are alright if u can place them well.

The wider focal length u use, the more overlap u need.

I have been happy with PTAssembler. Most of my panos can be stitched fully automatic. Or, if required, PTA allows picking control points manually. Other features allow importing previous stitch parameters for producing HDR or blended exposure panos. US$45.
