Panasonic Lumix G 20mm f1.7 Mark II


Any news on the AF performance? Based the internal same construction, I believe AF shld still be the same?

Hahahaha yeah.. I want it as a 'default lens' which can fit into my timbuk2 camera bag and insert without having to take it out.

Why Sigma? In terms of size and speed it doesn't come close. If it is about price. I don't think the 20mm would hurt much either, if you take the IQ in consideration.

Just hope that it would be a better motor. At least that is what I'm hoping for. The 20mm is still yield more satisfaction compare to the 25mm, but the 25mm really edge out on the AF.

Main thing is that I'm now using the 17/1.8 mainly.
Sigma's actually not bad at all with its IQ and focusing speeds but I'll agree the lower f1.7 for the 20 MKII wins flat out.
Only reason ill go for the 20 MKII is if it comes with improved AF ( on par with 17/1.8 ) which I really hope and feel so. Don't think Pana will be so brainless to release a MKII with no improvements haha
 

I couldn't really pass a judgement on the Sigma lens itself, since I have never really use one before. But to me, the focal length seems to be more of an after thought that meant to be designed. I think it was first thought out for those APS-C mirrorless then converted to m43 by just changing the mount along its manufacturing process.

Read about this and I guess it's true , 38mm's a weird FL to start with. Well , now it's to wait for the 20mm MK II to appear :)
Think most prob it will sell for >$500, which definitely will be around 40% more than the Sigma 19mm.
 

last time i sold my 20mm (old one) and got the 25mm PL. now maybe can keep the new 20mm MK II :D
 

Combo with up coming GX7? Anyone thinking about it.
 

Big question is will the performance be improved in the MK2 ? :)
 

this is available locally? any user reviews so far?
 

the difference between the old and new lens is just 1USD on BHphoto.. damn weird.. :bsmilie::dunno:
