4K resolution is selectable when you get into MP4 movie format not AVCHD. It will be available no matter what card you have in it.
When i switched to Video - 4K Mpeg4, the resolution is still 1080p. Do i have to use a specific SD card? Or how do i set the camera on 4K?
So it means that I selected and recorded it correctly. Just that I was expecting the display to look significantly larger and not the size of 1080. Haha.
I should think that you would need to have a 4K resolution monitor to actually see a 4K video clip in its full 4K resolution.
What do you mean by 'the resolution is still 1080p'? The resolution of the file when you view it on your comp? If it's 1080p, then maybe you did record wrongly. When I had the LX100, my SanDisk Ultra card was too slow, could only record 10-15s per shot in 4K then it would flash an error message. Expecting which display to look larger? The file is indeed larger in resolution if you view it at 100%. My guess is that the viewer you're using might be downscaling it to fit the screen. Perhaps you have to load it into an NLE timeline to see the actual size at 100% For example, if I open one of the 4K clips using Quicktime on my non-retina mbp, it is downscaled to 1440x810 to fit my screen resolution (1440x900), but the full resolution is actually 3840 x 2160px if you check the file specs.

some images to share from a walkabout after work today. The sensor doesn't do very well with bright spotlights in close proximity. the streetlights become washed out into a ball of light.
Bro Ricleo...I too have issues with bright lights on 109. The results are not pleasing especially on neon lights lit sign boards on buildings and the lettering cannot be seem at all. I try to bring down EV and/or ISO to see whether it helps.
Bro Tomcat...Thanks for sharing your tip on getting Cokin ultra thin filter from Malaysia online site. I took delivery in 4 days after placing order. Thanks!
Hi kandisky, back in the office i checked the sample files i tried in Harvey Norman.
Yes, the files says that it is only 1080p. I guess i have to go back Harvey Norman and try again. haha.
try bringing another SD card, bigger capacity/faster speed. could be the camera defaulting to FHD due to memory card not meeting the 4K requirements?
not too sure...
[Motion recording was cancelled due to the limitation of the writing speed of the card
Thanks! Important info. Let me bring another card and thick skin at Harvey Norman again! Haha!
