Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX8

Looks like I gotta update my 35-100 F2.8 .... Thanks kel77

ahhh.. 35-100 2.8 update was available sometime ago already.. current new update is for the slim lens..

The 8 Dec firmware is for Panasonic 35-100mm f4-5.6
Oops paiseh ... didn't know know that there is such a F4-5.6 lens for 35-100. Thanks for informing.

I think I previously updated 35-100 F2.8 already.

Thank you ...

But can only record 4K video for max of 30 continuos mins only leh

How long you intend to shoot 4k? 1hr? 2hr? 3hr?
are you trying to make a Lord Of the Rings movie? Star Wars maybe? Or Matrix?
Even movie directors will tend to shoot part by parts...
Unless you intend to record some live event seminar or what, then you probably should get a camcorder eg. HCX1000, Sony fdrax1.. instead of an slr/mft/mirrorless..

Thanks for the help Ryan and Wonglp! Now focus better a bit hahaha im such a noob :x

Have been ridiculed many times by this.

Also answered this many times.

Bro. From what I know, SG Panasonic sets do not have the 30 min limit (EU limit to avoid the camera being labeled as a video cam. Different tariff rate).

Yes bro Agrivar,

I bought the GX8 with full knowledge of the 30 mins limit. No worries.

In any case, my GH4 can record beyond 30 mins ... so can live with the 30 mins limitation in GX8 ...

Thanks & cheers

Wow Bro Ryan,
You have both GH4 n GX8. The best from Panny. Are you a pro or enthusiast?

Oh really? Gx8 they started that too? Hmm. Then cannot consider for my next upgrade :(

From Panny's product spec. It says 120 min continuous recording (FHD) and 100 min (4K).
Perhaps you see the "30min limit" as you are using a 64gb sd card or lower? ie no space on card rather than the limit?

I think that part likely refers to estimated battery/operation life when recording video, similar to the CIPA estimate for stills?

In the manual (pg 29), these are the footnotes for those figures:

• These times are for an ambient temperature of 23 oC (73.4 oF) and a humidity of 50%RH.
Please be aware that these times are approximate.
• Actual recordable time is the time available for recording when repeating actions such as
turning this unit on and off, starting/stopping recording, etc.
• AVCHD motion pictures:
Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 29 minutes and 59 seconds.
• MP4 motion pictures with a [Rec Quality] size of [FHD], [HD] or [VGA]:
Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 29 minutes and 59 seconds or
the file size exceeds 4 GB.
– Since the file size becomes larger with [FHD], recording with [FHD] will stop before
29 minutes 59 seconds.
• MP4 motion pictures with a [Rec Quality] size of [4K]:
Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 29 minutes and 59 seconds.
(You can continue recording without interruption even if the file size exceeds 4 GB, but the
motion picture file will be divided and recorded/played back separately.)

I think what I did wrong is I use the face detection then I use the 49 points thing then I'm using f1.7 :x that's why so blur and shutter speed is 1/60

Ok bro Agrivar, i may have been confused and got mixed up with other cameras ...

So far, haven't use the GX8 to video my kid's concert yet ...

Now that you mentioned, perhaps I should try it out tomorrow ...

Thanks
