Panasonic HDC-TM700

Oh i see tht is cheap

but warranty is a risk for electronic item.. but each got each like :D

I just went and dove into getting the TM700 from B+H photos. Its USD814 for the NTSC model. I don't mind the system and I don't get why the Pal version which they also sell is alot more expensive at USD1250. Hopefully its nothing to do with Pal being better. Anyway, B+H sends directly to Brunei at only USD67 UPS shipping. I tried Amazon and they don't ship direct. Troublesome for me really. Can't wait.

so it's ok to use NTSC over PAL? really, still don't get the idea on the difference between these 2 systems for camcorder, as this baby will be store the motion as file (instead of tape). any clue guys?

NTUC camcorder suffer from some flickering under fluorescent light.. but i ask some pros ard.. they say its not a serious issue as normally ur shutter speed will go above 1/125 and flicker wont be visible from there. I am not sure if its 1/125 or what.. but u need to match it with the refresh rate of fluorescent light to hv it visible on ur screen. Darn i sounds dumb in explaining this.. so please google and correct me :)

here's one video to show the problem : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y32B4kDkU9A .. in this video i set it manual and to 1/60 shutter speed.. and u can see the flicker. if u set it to higher speed the problem goes away. I tested it later in iA mode (the mode that most user will use i guess?) and the flickering problem is not there , i assume the iA mode hv the shutter speed up to at least 1/100 ? I later on manually change it to 1/125, then flicker also gone.

BTW, how much is the shipping from borderlinx cost at the end?

Hi Arsenal01,

Do you use vpost for the shipping? I tried to ship in Nexus 1 previously but they rejected it due to the battery.. Do you have similar problems?

Received my TM700 + free bag + mini-HDMI->HDMI1.4 cable on 26/9.

ktee: congrates.. and welcome to the Panasonic camcorder gang :)

Hi Ktee,

I am interested to get a TM700 but Amazon do not ship directly. How do you get the set from Amazon? Can share? Thanks in advance

my latest liking is hopshopgo.com

why? becos u hv a option to get them to repack ur item (via the origianal box so they not going to take anything inside ur item box out)... this way if amazon or other uses bigger box, u no need to pay so much postage (can go from estimated $50 to $200 if box is too big)

Thanks TsQ for the info.

Will try your recommendation.

One more newbie question. If I get from Amazon which is NTSC system, can we play the video on our HD TV in Singapore which is PAL system? Please advice and thanks in advice.

can.. all tv are multi system now.. unlike old days of the rounded CRT :)

dont forget that when DHL delivery for u , they will pay GST for u to clear the item.. and that cost $10 for such service...

Hi TsQ

Thanks for the help

Might wanna consider the new 3D camcorder... but then u need a 3D TV...

In Osaka right now, I tried out the 3d camera TM650/TM750 at Yodobashi-Umeda yesterday and found the 3D effect to be very good on Panasonic 3D TV. TM750 available in some places for as low as 90000yen. I picked up the TM650 for only 67500 Yen at one of the wholesaler electric store. The 2D video for TM650 is just as good as the TM700 and 750. The TM750 is about S$300 more expensive and I can't see any advantage for my use. Now looking to buy the 3d lens. :-)

Man, the Jap's are really pampered with all these gadgets. Yodobashi is a place I can stay all day in and not get bored.

Link to the TM650.

darn i am so jealous... but japanese got all the gadgets but their hse so small, hahaha cannot really buy too much stuff la

sometimes theres no best in everything

I got the TM700 end August from Alanphoto Funan for slightly more than 2K. It uses a different format from the previous model TM300. I am using Pinnacle Studio 14. I just open the video files & dragged them to the timeline, add photos, motion titles, transitions & menu & render & burn to Bluray straightaway. I did a full HD183min video in slightly more than 3hrs including burning at 4X. Other users using the previous model must first convert to MPEG2 format - additional task. They can't render & burn straight to bluray.
