Ownuser grip - in stores! (?)

There are no signal contacts inside the battery chamber of the KM 5D. So even if a grip is available for the 5D, it will probably serve to carry 2 batteries and nothing more -- no buttons, thumbwheel etc.:dunno:

the 5D was not designed to accomodate a vg. so a mod will require you to cut off the battery insert and lay the vg flat against the 5D's base. even if you can slot a 3rd party vg's battery insert into the 5D, you'll have to remove the battery door :nono:

and yes, there are no signal contacts to the camera, so in vertical mode, scrolls and buttons on the camera must still be used even if your 3rd party vg has them. so far the only pain i get using my modded vg in vertical mode is the AE button, but given that its better than not having a vg, ah well....

depends on what you are looking for, and your luck I guess. sulhan found quite a lot of stuff matching his needs, while myself so far havent done any deals yet with any of the stores at bo ai rd. last month when I went there I saw 100 - 400 apo brand new but old stock, and 28 - 135 used. common stuff you may find are 28-75, 75-300, 11-18, and maybe 17-35 non g, also quite a lot of sig 10-20. sony's stuff I've seen are 50 f/2.8 macro, dbl kit lens, and 18-200 only.

the grip may be not in the near future. but still bo air rd is worth checking, window shopping at least

are you planning to bring along yr gears? please report yr trip (maybe in other thread) as I think we are all anxious regarding our gears and the hand carry baggage restriction things lately these days.

I will also be looking out for the Flash as well as the Grip ...

Normally I will bring my 5D + 2 lenses, hopefully these new restrictions does not affect photography equipment or at least not on the SIN-TW route.

A colleague of mine came in from the US today, even at US airport he has no problems with hand carry stuff like laptop and mobile phone. Just no liquids.
