Wow! Free accom in SYD! Thanks for the offer, Agetan. Will keep that in mind. ;) Airfares to SYD nowadays are so cheap, but the airport taxes is a killer. Promo ticket cost about S$598 but taxes can be as high as around S$318!

No prob...

If you know anyone who wants to come to Sydney and have their wedding photography done and want to save money in accomodation and transport by staying with us, please let me know.
Oh, of course, the wedding photographer has to be me!! hahaa :)

Thats very kind of you Agetan! I had the same idea some time back but I went to Penang and Langkawi for some shots. Hope to be able to join you guys if time permits! :)

I'll certainly keep my eyes peeled on this thread.
Do be careful to avoid East Malaysia, Sumatra and maybe West Malaysia too, cos the haze in these 2 countries are pretty bad. Vietnam, Thailand, Australia sound like good bets.

yup.. climbing up... :bsmilie: everything book liao... air tix n lodging at 3000+ height. dun really hv a small decent cam bag to bring along. thinking of getting my cube bag padding from my sling bag n put it in my waist pouch n just climb. like that means i cant bring anymore lens other than 17-35

i thought you will be bringing most of your gear up, like someone who did that on his genting trip. :bsmilie: anyway, isnt there a guide and a porter going up with you? if yes, let the porter carry all your gear la. :bsmilie:

er...er.... i bring so much gear for wat? hmm... i got a backpack, but its for me to put in all my gears. but too big liao. wonder if i should go get a mini trekker or something

It's a long way up. If you want to carry more can always consider hiring porter to carry for you and enjoy the trip up. Light things suddenly become heavier as you are getting tired.

This is the time where all those extreme zoom range are handy, eg 18-125, 18-200. You loose f-stop and some quality, but it saves on weight and no worry about changing to the proper focal length lens.

Was there more than 20 years ago, things may have changed now maybe got escalator liao... :bsmilie: That time bad weather so didn't get any shot at the summit.

I hope your 17-35mm is not the G version, cos the size / weight will kill you... Lose the VC, that's just another piece of accessory which you may accidentally damaged.

Best if you can get a slim profile bag with good paddings cos your bag is definitely gonna take some bashing as you near the peak and conditions get more treacherous. Fat, unwieldly bags will just get in the way...

As for what lens, that is really up to you... If you don't mind the loss of image quality in your zoom-all that will be fine... but I have found that the view is so grand that I am shooting almost all at the wide end... but your taste and mileage may differ so consider carefully...

If you plan to hire a porter, then no prob, those guys can literally hurl anything and walk on walls... =)
