Over Exposure with Tamron 17-50mm

Hi all,

If i buy the lens from HK, am i able to bring it to the Singapore Service Centre to repair if there is such a problem?

I'm planning to ask my friend to help me get it during his trip to HK next month.

I suggest you get the answer from the Horse's mouth, i.e. call JEL to confirm.

Got the lens back yesterday. I test shot in all different modes and found that the problem was resolved.
I asked the lady who handed me the lens on the problem, but she did not know if any parts had been changed, or any components adjusted. Well, as long as the problem is fixed.

Moral of the story.......the aperture information in the camera does not necessary control the aperture size of the lens, if the aperture is stuck. There was also no error codes, except that all the shots are overexposed!:o

So you meant the aperture lever inside the lens was stuck right ?
Glad that your problem has been solved :)

Yes this is so true for Nikon bodies. Take a look at the lens mount and you'd figure out the lever which controls the aperture, it jams the aperture to max when you twist lock the lens for focusing and viewing through the viewfinder. When you take a shot, the camera releases the mounting catch to the position which corresponds to the correct aperture. The internal springs within the lens will be responsible in releasing the aperture to the catch position. One way to check is to use the DOF preview button available on some models. :)

Good thread. I learn something. :)
