Outing to Palau Ubin

I think walking is alright under normal circumstances. We should be in Ubin by 8am after our sunrise shoot. But as we will hv our tripods, camera gears, water and such, this means we have additional weight to carry. So its not being fit but can we all tahan the heat after 9am? And we will definately move slowly cause we will snap snap and snap. So reaching the mangrove or Chek Jawa could be a challenging goal. So if we took the van, we will buy time and spend the morning at mangrove or Chek Jawa to take more pictures. Alternative, if we want to save money, we can just take pics around the jetty and the spice garden (takes one half hour to complete). Head back to mainland, have our makan session and chit chat and share ideas and interests. Just my two cents arh....I think Aunty me is game enough to take the challenge of walking...the most i skive and wait for you guys to collect me on the way back to jetty
I think it will be a good idea to decide where we want to go in Ubin, what we want to shoot and plan our route accordingly. Then we can decide what lens to bring.

The outing is confirmed, but I still yet to received any sms from D700King, nor volunteers to lead us in Ubin. However I will still continue to organise this event since few of my friends are in the outings.
0630 - 0730hrs - SunRise - Changi Beach Carpark 6.30am. I will be there early to update the on site weather. The shoot will tentatively last till 7.30am.
0730 - 0800hrs - Breakfast / Kopi at the Changi Village food centre
0830hrs - leave to Ubin by boat. (pls prepare some lose change to pay the boatman, if I not wrong its $2.50 per way)
1130hrs - 1200hrs - Leave Ubin back to Singapore
Taking what photos ?
It can be scenic, kampung shooting or even Macro. Its really freestyle for everyone, and sorry I really not sure what to expect from there. I not been to ubin for years, maybe got shopping ctr
Items to bring wear /bring along:
Tripod (for sun rise)
Yr camera + lens.
Umbrella
Comfortable foot wear - preferably covered shoes
long pants ( to minimise exposed skin area for mosquito)
Extra t-shirt ( you sure to sweat like crazy there)
Insect repellent spray (to divert the mosquito)
Water bottle
Cash
For those who are joining us at the sunrise shoot, we can meet at Carpark 6 location. For those who will be joining only for the Ubin trip, pl sms (91125351) me your name so that I can pre-empt myself the expected confirm participants before leaving to ubin. Pl note we will not leave later than 0830hrs.
Impt: I will update this thread on that actual morning at 0600hrs on the weather. Any cancellation to this trip, this thread will be updated.

I suggest tat u guys just share the cost of hiring a minibus in ubin to take u all to chek java or any location planned... if not it will be very tiring walking all the way there as it is quite a long walk in.. if not it will becoming a whole day event than a half day le.. enjoy!!!

How to get to Chek Jawa?
At Ubin Jetty, you can hire a van to take you there. The vans usually charge $2/person for 12 persons, one-way. The van will drop you off at Punai Hut and you'll have to walk the rest of the way to the Chek Jawa Information Kiosk and entrance to the boardwalk.

Hi
Just to share mine experience, I went Ubin on Wed 14th Dec. Love the rural feel of the place.
I walked from the Jetty to Chek Jawa and the distance is quite exhausting therefore do beware, prep enough water but do not drink excessively, go toilet break before the hike (especially for the ladies) and sleep well the nite before.
