Opinions: What do you think about Photography in CS today?

it's just difficult to associate male with aesthetics or beauty. if one really appreciates art then he wouldn't mind seeing female nudes of rembrandt, davinci, michaelangelo, degas, klimt, renoir, cezane, gaugin etc.

Cs is not about male machismo and pervertion. that's why there's a C&C (critics/comments) section here in case he forgot.

He is a boy lah.. nothing he ever said sounds like a man.. As for OCS.. I've been to OCS at SAFTI MI almost every month, sometimes a few times a week. Most of the cadets seems fine to me, some even salute me.. :bsmilie:

Also many Officers friends, none of them have any ego problem.. he must be an exception.. :bsmilie:

As for modeling, mabbe he plans to go back to Elite after NS.. but scared that by then nobody wants to hire local male models.. :bsmilie:

Lastly, so what if he hardly find pics of local male models in CS? Not everyone hires models, shoots and post in CS.. besides, the C&C for male portraits move rather slowly most of the time.

I find this view is disturbing and misleading. Your statement "it's just difficult to associate male with aesthetics or beauty" is biased against your own gender (assuming u r a guy); and it is misleading because one of the MOST famous art piece by Michaelanglo is male nude called "DAVID", which after many centuries, still the master piece for all, men and women, to admire till this day.

CS is a community... there are better photogs and there are newbies and wannabes.

what do you expect? A community of pro-photogs? Wrong place dude.

Agencys have their own clientel... so does CS have our own pool of models and photogs... they might not be mutually exculsive.. but they are very different.

As you mention before about comparision.. you, yourself are comparing apple to orange to durians.

:think: ... The thing is - We're all here to learn from one another. To correct our mistakes. Please do not compare the standards here and "the agency" ... Even graphic designers need to build up a portfolio before being accepted to whatever agency.

Everyone has to go through this learning curve and its not a talent that's inbuilt in everyone of us.

The problem is that - I have yet to see a male model that approximates to a MAN.

I had photographed men, as Man. But they are not male models.

Male models, unfortunately are so full of themselves, that the MANHOOD was nowhere to be seen.

I don't shoot a lot, but if I do , I wold shoot babes too, and here are my reasons and points

1) I shoot what I like to shoot, just like architectures, wildlife, nature, etc etc
2) babes have nicer curves then man ( and pls don't say that if we know how to appreciate, guys have diff kind of curves), so I didn't know how to appreciate guys' curver, so be it , i will be happy to continue t shoot babes
3) I am not here to balance up the account, and photography is not about balancing the account, it's about shooting what you like to shoot. So all nature shooters should shoot some architeture too? so as to give a good balance ?
4) I am also not here to give a chance, photography is not life and death, it about shooting what you like to shoot. So all wildlife shooters should starts shooting streets to give the streets a chance.?
5) If i have to pay to shoot something, I will make sure it is what I like to see on my prints, Jealousy?...mmmm.... I really don't know where that come from, ....sombody feeling inferior here? would you pay for some food that you don't like to eat , but would do so just to create balance, chance, etc
