[ Opinion ] - Complimenting my DSLR with a PEN?

Thanks for the heads up, For a start, I will prolly try out with the kit zoom + either pancake just to have a feel of the system. If I really cling onto it, I will get the wide angle and ditch my 16-35vr4.

Just curious, is there no reasonable IQ tele zooms? I am not looking for superior quality but something that works well in relation to weight + size factor.

I don't know about the telezooms really... For my requirements, they are really quite crappy. And you coming from a D700 + Nikon VR lens user, you might be disappointed. But like Spidey89 said below, there are options.

Only one I can think of would be the Panasonic 45-200, the Olympus 40-150 and 75-300 is a little soft wide open

You forgot the Panasonic 14-140 lens. Good reach at 280mm (35mm format) which is good enough for general use. This lens is expensive but one of the best long reach lens in the Micro Four Thirds platform. I really don't recommend the Panasonic 45-200mm. It is worse than a Sigma. Rubbish of a lens. But dirt cheap at about $500 a pop.

Otherwise, wait for the new lenses coming soon.

When all fails, there is always the Olympus 40-150 with the MMF adapter.

Among all the lenses, the Panasonic 7-14 is excellent (in fact, I'm trying to get rid of my 14-140mm in favour of a manual telephoto prime. Not that the 14-140mm is bad, but there are better primes out there.). It has the less correction compared to the 20mm/f1.7, and it is sharp. Not too sure about the Olympus lenses, but the 17/f2.8 comes recommended.

Though if you are looking for bokeh, you might want to consider manual lenses, or maybe the 45mm/f2.8 Panasonic-Leica macro. Pictures from that lens seem decent enough.

Whoops, forgot about the 14-140, the 40-150 with MMF would be a better choice I guess, which reminds me,I seriously gotta have mine cleaned :bsmilie:

My thanks folks! :D

Very informative and roughly sets me up to have all the different available options. I'll just kick start wif a pancake + kit zoom to "play around" 1st. The zoom can come in later when more lenses are released with acceptable IQ.

When you get board sometime, check my blog...you will see several entries regarding the expansion of my M4/3rds kit (to augment my Nikon gear)...;)

Well some good and bad news here. I've bough the E-P2 kit + Vf-2 + 20mmf1.7 last sunday and while I enjoy it, my cousin is giving up his m4/3 and will be giving me his E-PL1 + Panny 14-140 + Panny 20mm f1.7 + Olympus 9-18mm! I guess its time to sell what I've just bought. :D
