hi newbie question here, why u need an Omnibounce? does nt the built-in diffuser enough for ur shooting requirement?

The diffuser allows the flash to cover a wider angle. The Omnibounce allows flash to catch the subject better when the head is tilted up. As the name suggests, the thing bounces light in all directions, instead of just one direction. So the overall effect is softer and natural lighting.

Is there another option instead of using omnibounce? Can we just use a white piece of cloth (or hankerchief) over the flash? This also helps to give a natural and soft lighting. Pls advise.

Yes you can use other ways. There is not fixed method. The benefit of using OB would be getting consistent results and looking more 'proper' than using a cloth. You could also use a bounce card, but again it's about getting the proper gear and not looking funny. Imagine if you use a hanky or A4-size cardboard on your camera in a crowded place.

Photography is all about creative use of our equipment. There's no stopping on how we use it to produce the desired results. Manufacturers simply reap profits by standardising accessories to produce the results required by users. Have fun!

You're right. Just got my Omni-bounce from Konota today. Amazed that a plastic piece like that can cost $28. Tried on it and indeed it gives a softer flash, direct and bounce.

Its in Peninsula Plaza, on the ground floor, directly opposite Bata. Within, a small counter with a baldy man. He's the man who has the stuff.

It's a small counter next to the entrance of the Fujifilm developing shop opposite Bata inside entrance (not the one facing the main road). I think Agfa shop is next to it. Sometimes, Nelson may not be there.

I haven't been to the place and buy yet.
By the way, is Nelson the boss there?
I should look for him, right?
