My only mistake was selling my Pana 7-14 too early in anticipation of the Oly 7-14/2.8 lol

Good "news" bro.

A salesman from a renowned shop in Funan told me that the Oly 7-14/2.8 will be on sale this Oct 2014 after they launch/demo it at the Photokina exhibition later this year in Sep 2014 ...

Hope he is correct ... as I am delaying my purchase of 7-14/F4 Panny lens ...

Really ? Wow.
Hope the oct date is true :) was expecting it to be in only in 2015.

Yeah, that was what the salesman said ... when I wanna buy the 7-14/F4 Panny lens ... he asked me not to buy and wait in Oct ... he said 2 months only you cannot wait meh ?

I am one of those who bought the Limix 7-14mm knowing that the Oly 7-14mm will be available soon. Bought it because I need an intra wide angle for what I do. The Lumix being an f/4 and its construction, I am almost certain that it is lighter and smaller than the Oly version. Do you need f/2.8? That might be sometime you want to consider. Of course, if the Oly 7-14mm is THAT good, I'll get it too.

I suppose if you are on tripod, don't really need the F2.8.

I dunno, maybe at very low light, need the F2.8 ?

You need to stop the lens down for landscapes to ensure sufficient depth of field. You will need a tripod in lowlight.

and you mentioned about doing long exposures in the other thread. A good sturdy tripod is a must have.

Sorry ... double post ...

Ok, tripod, I have ... no worries ...

just not sure whether to:

1) get the Panny 7-14/F4 now

or

2) wait for the Oly 7-14/F2.8 and temporary use the Panny 12-35/F2.8

Ok, usually what Aperture you use ? F8 ?

You will need a tripod in lowlight.
Yes, tripod I have ... thanks

Cheers

The Pana 7-14/4 is a one good lens , sharp and frankly yes, landscape wise f4 is more than sufficient. When I brought it overseas a few times and kena rain, snow, hail and one darn time mud etc , trust me - it's scary.

My reasons for getting the 7-14/2.8 Pro is actually because it's :

1. Weather resistant!!! no point having a weather resistant body but lens not resistant lol.
2. Very likely a newer lens construction with even better IQ
3. The Pana 7-14 flares horribly , and I believe the Oly 7-14/2.8 Pro will be an improvement over this.
4. F2.8 , honestly why not ? ;)

I will get the Oly 7-14mm if it has better curvilinear distortion control, be it in the design or corrected with built-in software. Also, I found the edges of the Limix 7-14mm suffers a little. If the Oly can address these issues, it would be great!

Ok thanks. Back to EM1 topic ...

If I put my Panny lens (which has stabilization on the lens) on the EM1, do I turn off the stabilization in the lens or bosy ?

Thanks

Turn off the one in the lens. The E-M1 5-axis stabilisation is much better.

Ok thanks. Really appreciate your confirmation ...

Will try to take note and remember this ...

i certainly hope so too. was trying to send u a msg regards to Fuji10-24 vs P7-14 but your inbox was full. anyways, the P7-14 is the 'best' we have for m43 unless I opt for the ZD O7-14 (43rd), which I think is better but I won't so i can't complain :) & P7-14 flares can be horrendous at times.

Dunno lah, I am just being a parrot repeating what the salesman said ... lol ... but he sounded like he was so convinced it will be launched soon ... but all the rumours that I read say 2015 or later ... any history of lens come out earlier than announced scheduled ?
