Yup, done by Olympus Service Centre. Re flash firmware and calibration of the camera itself.
To have needed to do a recalibration really is cold comfort with the camera being a new one and of the higher end ones but ya, just happy that your issue's settled and Oly was willing to take it up.

It does help to be covered under warranty.
My 1st experience with Olympus Service Centre was a good one. They seems to be quite keen to solve the problem. Maybe Olympus Japan will like to gather as much examples of problem as possible to help them improve the camera. Now the camera perform like what an E-M1 should be.

It'd be interesting if they were able to give you a reason for the initial AF fault.

I didn't really ask in details (service guy did not have access to more details cos R&D dept will not share too much or at least that was what I was told) what was wrong. But it come across as something not too serious. It was sorted out pretty fast and the rest was mainly being checked for other possible problem, testing, etc....a bit like evaluation and QC...then send their findings to Japan.

Cool man, if flashing of the firmware fixed it I'm sure it's pretty harmless to begin with. I was just wondering out loud that's all. I have an inquisitive nature so I like to know how things work. Gets me in trouble sometimes haha.

Yea I don't really like it to be honest, all the cameras I owned, there's a very obvious half-press 'limit', on the em1, it's just this mushy feeling and before you know it, it snaps a picture lol..
also don't like the dial beside around the shutter button, very little feel, unlike the dial at the back. You'd think they'd use the same one for both.

Even for the 12-40 , it's only buying dekit now if anyone wants the lens alone .
