OMG It's Black Market Camera

One of the shop told me there are LJ customers who cherrypick on the filters even when they buy B+W filters, only to be ticked off to maintain their SKU "freshness" for their potential customers. Passing off opened sets as sealed BNIB constitutes cheating.

Bottom line is, if purchased merchandise is defective, it shall be returned, as in line with the lemon law.

Shop is not under any obligation to accept exchanges when it falls short of user expectations.

Consumers must do their homework & research before committing any purchase.

Yes. There is actually a difference, but it seems that you are unaware of it.

I am not here to argue what is right, what is wrong, what is the law and what are the common practises. I am posting this AGAIN to inform those CSers who may not know that some shops actually provided additional services and have a more wider policies which other shops do not have..

you can buy a t-shirt from a shop who does not do exchange because the size doesn't fit, and you can find another shop which does allow you to do exchange when the size doesn't fit. no rights/no wrongs. just whichever, the consumer prefers and expects.

some does not prefer a shop which allows exchange, thinking they might sell second hand stuffs. some prefer one that does have flexibility in their return policy. its a matter of personal view and opinion. you prefer this, does not mean others will agree with u. so, if ure still gonna find fault in whatever i post, dont bother. this will still serve as an information to shoppers who frequent Peninsula... like I do :)

please stop being a *censored*. in which thread did i say that the staff is unprofessional?

Please keep it civil. Name calling in CS is not tolerated. Warning served.

They have lousy and inexperienced stuff. The manager is rude. Honestly I will never step to this store ever again.

Couldn't agree more with TeriyakiDon. As the name says, it's Black Market so buy at your own risk. Terrible customer service in fact outright rude especially when things go wrong.

THE Shop already call itself a black market...haha

Bought a filter yesterday from them, customer service so-so only. Filter was not what I expected when I tested at home and wanted to exchange for a lower density one. They DO NOT have an exchange policy for their products. Please take note and be careful when u buy from them. Not as flexible as other shops out there.

"Filter was not what I expected "

TS didnt test it at shop when you buying ?

Thanks CS for sharing your experience. I do experience bad customer service as well. Shop to avoid.

bringing up this post again, last week i passed by and look around this shop.
they are selling an original Canon LP-E6 for $89 is this legit or grey market / hope not fake... i hesitated asking they may be offended...

Anyone have tried this batts before?

dont even come and flame me on this. My whole intention is to inform others what I went through and hopefully they will not have to experience what I did... and yes, there are a few shops in Peninsula and Funan which DOES allow exchange policy in a reasonable way.

I bought a lens which did not focus that well on my camera and went back immediately to that shop on the next day. They changed a new lens for me AFTER checking my existing one to ensure no signs of it being used and still in mint condition. This is what we call customer service and for those ignorant people out there, after sales service and a return policy is part of a customer service.
So if you open a food stall and the customer buys a plate of pasta. Returns it 5 minutes later with one bite taken, saying that it is not up to what he wanted. Presuming that you are a believer in your own philosophy, you will take it back and exchange it for a new plate?

...And if he comes back again with another bite taken into the new plate... You will cook up yet another one for him?

If you say yes, I'll be happy to frequent your pasta stall whenever it opens. Not bad, can pay one price try the whole world. :bsmilie:

agree on this...sellers have responsibility but buyers also have duty and awareness to tackle on. not just go back and replace the items because it was your fault.

I was at this shop yesterday as recommended by my photographer friend
I admit I am clueless also as this is the first time I am buying a camera that I can change filters and hood for plus I didn't have my camera with me when i went over yesterday evening
I last bought a f100fd from fujiflim and I upgraded to the X20 cause of the battery being the same make.
I asked for Fujiflim X20 which has the same body as the X10 and all the same accessories as I showed the guy there.
I even showed him the fuji website to prove its the same size on my phone.

He gave me a 58mm-67mm hood and a 67mm filter when there was a fujiflim x10 ventilated hood hanging there.
Trust me to ask someone to help me pick out the the stuff that would fit.

Luckily they managed to change my stuff today after I went to the shop at lunch time as its really a mistake on their staff part

The best part is as a photographer, does a filter go over the lens hood or under the lens hood?

They said the filter is supposed to go over the hood and they didn't have a 59-61mm one because Leica does not have such filters.

So i ended up having to spend another 18 dollars cause their thumbgrip is 38 dollars and my refund value was 20 bucks

When I searched online its only us $8.28 per piece

The uncle one floor down in sgcamerashop was much more knowledgable. He straight away told me that fuji uses 40-40.5mm filters and proceeded to get me the hercules filter for 20 sgd and he even helped me screw it on.

Next time I am buying online already. I am a camera idiot hence I go to this shop to get expert advise.
Goes to show I am better off being my own adviser and buying online

This sums everything one needs to know when shopping in Singapore. And that's the same what we always preach here for ages: do not expect a sales man to be your private equipment teacher / camera consultant. If one does not know what to get then stay away from all shops.
You are lucky that you found a helpful sales man. Treat this as exception, not as standard.

Please take your time to read through the sticky threads in Newbies Corner about filters. Do check out the other equipment discussions about filters and hoods. Make knowledgeable decisions instead of following others. Especially UV filters are a good example how sales man scare customer with horror stories just to sell 'protective filters'. Never lose common sense over being concerned.

Such things happen... Have to be aware of what you are buying, really.
