OMD screen went blank when swopping between 20mmf1.7 and 45mmf1.8 lenses

My copy from TK Foto was v1.0 firmware (bought this april) and I experienced issues with this lens on custom WB as well as screen turned black after changing lens. Not sure if I used a 20/1.7 previously prior to changing.

I updated the firmware to v1.1 the issue of custom WB does not exist while the issue of the blackout cannot be replicated earlier as I tried to help the TS.

Hope this info is useful to anyone.

When you remove lens u have have to hold the release button.

U have to let go release button before twisting-in the new lens. If u dont let go release button while twisting-in the lens got very good chance the alignment will be slightly out (over-twist). My OLED & EVF went blank. Had to remove & re-twist than ok

Wow, their stock must be ancient.

When you press the lens release button in the screen goes blank.

If the lens is not fuly locked in position the screen will be blank.

If you hold down the lens release button when attaching a lens you can actually turn the lens PAST the locking point causing the screen to be blank. When this happens just turn the lens in the opposite direction WOTHOUT holding down the lens release button. Never hold down the lens release button when attaching a lens (it's called lens RELEASE for a reason).

Tested again tonight.
Oly 45mm to 12-50 lens and vice versa - no problem
Oly 45mm to 20mm lens and vice versa - screen blank. Lens not detected
Oly 12-50 to 20mm lens and vice versa - screen blank. Lens not detected

Ive gt same issue with all lenses ( can check my threads). Give it a quick trio to Olympus. Shud settle the issue once and fr all.

i do hold the release button.
in any case, i had to remove a few times and twist back for the camera to recognise the lens.

my 20mm is on v1.1. it is the latest. so, it's not firmware issue.

btw, for those who are suggesting to solve the issue by releasing and then re-attaching the lens, please note that i have tried and it works but that should not be the way... i have no problem with my E-P3 with the same lenses.

so, what i really want to find out is whether this is a OM-D problem or did i get a lemon. that's all...

anyone has panny and oly lenses, care to try swapping and let me know if you experienced the same thing?

When attaching lens Don't hold release button. It screws up the camera.

it works ok with my E-P3... i tried all methods of release and re-attaching... same results.

Olympus is looking at other issues with 20mm lens.

v1.0 is for 45/1.8

Thought it was only released last year?

All my issues are with Olympus so far. Like incompatibility on AF with certain panasonic lens. Nobody like to know about it, so I tiam tiam.

The whole world likes to sing OMD praises, so far I have none. If not for the IBIS, I could have sold my OMD off.

Using and changing the lens from 12-50 to 20, from 20 to 14, from 14 to 20, from 20 to 45, from 45 to 20, never have such issue except the banding with 20.

Jeez, I quoted a post about the 20mm F1.7. lol

Don't you think the best solution is to go to olympus service centre and ask their guys to take a look at the camera and lens? :)
I think i will also be confused if i ever had that problem next time. Or call their line for technical support?

My 45mm is on latest firmware. Definitely not oly lens issue since I can swap oly to oly with no problems
