OMD screen went blank when swopping between 20mmf1.7 and 45mmf1.8 lenses

i tried last night using my 20mm. I think is becuase you press the release button while attachig the lens.

test1
remove 12-50 from omd
attach the 20mm while pressing the release button.
turn camera on, screen is blank.

test2
remove 12-50 from omd
attach the 20mm without pressing the release button.
turn camera on, screen is fine.

Probably you're finding is the logical culprit. As I recall I do have problem once with mounting and unmounting lens but not in OM-D. It's with 4/3 lens when I have to use it with my 4/3 to m4/3 adapter in EPL-1. As I twist the lens to mount, the lens not detected when I turn on my EPL-1, due to the pin in adapter not fully lock into position. Somehow the spring in lens locking mechanism is not hard enough. As I look the pin lock release button is still half press / flush with adapter. So some of the spring in lens lock pin mechanism of OM-D probably too weak to lock so it's not detecting the lens being mounted like mine in 4/3 to m4/3 adapter.

These small lenses can be difficult to grab when mounting.

Hi peeps,

Thanks for the many help that I had received here.
We managed to isolate the problem to my set and the shop gave me a 1-to-1 exchange. Superb service!
So, guys, no worries, OM-D is a great camera! And the bug I encountered was only an isolated case.

I am having fun taking pics with it! Do hope to learn more from this community on the best settings to configure on this sweet camera.

Cheers!

So it was the camera?

He had a 1 to 1 exchange. so likely is the camera problem. Recently got a 45mm F1.8 and swap with the 12-50mm len. nothing happen. can use straight away.

Oly to Oly lenses, no problem at all. Only when swap Oly to Panny/other brands, then the issue arose.

Guys, guys, guys!!!

Ageha is right. Its a lens RELEASE button, so you ONLY press it to release the lens. You do NOT press the release button to mount the lens. This is the logic of the lens release button.

as mentioned, it was camera set issue and i have it exchanged and now it works very well. v top notch service from the shop. highly recommended!

OK since issue is settled, I propose that we close this thread.

But to all others who had problems with mounting lens, please take note, lens release button is to release lens. No need to press it to mount lens.
