OM-D E-M5 firmware 1.2 released

updated mine last night, failed to login to server on 1st attempt, 2nd attempt successful, whole process took about 15 minutes.

Updated mine with 12mm F2. But weird thing is I noticed the rattlesnake shutter prob disappeared with my PL 25mm F1.4 lens. Focusing also seemed to improve by "milliseconds"

is the software detected ur 12mm f2? good that 25mm rattlesnake prob is gone. but mine doesn't have this prob even with ver 1.1

I updated my firmware today, OMD with the 12-50mm lens. It was very easy. Took me less than 10 mins... Rather pleased that it didn't give me any problems, especially after I read about people encountering problems on the net. =)

There are no firmware updates for any lenses.

However, I think there are some undocumented benefits of the camera update

eg. there is no more "rattlesnake" when u point your PL 25mm at strong light sources. This has been observed by ppl in other forums as well
PL25mm "rattlesnake" and E-M5 1.2 update - Micro Four Thirds User Forum

and I also think focusing with the 25mm became a tinnny bit faster :bsmilie:

This is great news! An already solid lens just got Godmode. ;)
Really no regrets buying this lens.

Anyone can verify once after upgrading firmware, does your shutter count reset?

No. all your camera settings remain unchanged. Only firmware version.

Thanks! My shutter count was reset after servicing from Olympus.

servicing from Olympus? meaning you ask them to re-load the firmware, as like re-install the OS ? Its like reset to factory setting. All shutter count is definitely lost. even the clock, date,... are reset i supposed.

Nope. Sent to replace the sensor glass because it was chipped during manufacturing. They helped to update the firmware too. Was surprised to see my shutter count back to 0011.

updated to v1.2 within 3 mins max ;0)
lens attached was 12mm (v1 detected by Oly Viewer 2 v1.4)
yet to try if the rattle-sound is still on the PL25mm

Done updating too, less than 5 mins,
Wondering is it, if got 4 lens, must update all the lens as well??

Pls advise

Thank you
Jake

Yes indeed. Lens must be attached on the body and it will self detect if an update is required. Works for both Pany and Oly lenses.

Ok, got to play for a short while outdoors. The PL25 still rattles when alternating between bright outdoors and shade. It doesn't rattle at all with my 22 watt desk lamp, tho.

from the m-43.com, it seem that the japan site olympus 1.2 firmware update had suspended.

Yeah, read from dpreview, too. Apparently, too many ppl bricked their cameras.

...because they didn't follow the instructions on how to do the firmware upgrade. Those who did the upgrade properly had no brick issues.

I always wait until AFTER the mad rush, and because of that I'm still stuck at 1.1 until Olympus re-releases the firmware, or upgraded firmware.
