Ever heard of retail markups?The RRP and street prices can be quite different for some equipment. It's up to the shoppers to do their own market survey before plonking down their hardearned cash at the dealers.By the way this battery is selling for US$8.19 at Amazon. Wow, that is really cheap. Yeah, I remembered that RRP and street prices are different, but for accessories, this is a big difference. Even my own Pentax accessories do not have that big a gap in pricing.

The Oly sg web is selling the original battery at $61 and the shop is selling at$38? Possible???

Like Tomcat says, YES, it is very possible. Even the external charger at Olympus is $56

Hi XZ-1 user,

I'm thinking of getting the XZ-1 but the only thing that's holding me back is its video taking capabilities.

Reviews state that it can only take 7min/2GB of HD video at one time.

Can i know what happens after the 7min? Will the camera start another recording itself OR do I have to press the "record" button again?

I hv not try beyond reasonable mins.

Ask yourself simple question, how long SINGLE movie clip you want ?
Going to cinema, 2 hour show. The movie is made of MANY MANY MANY clips. This is just common sense.

Anyway, just tried. it can go beyond 2 mins. I have to stop Rec after passed 2min:10sec

Read before in this Forum, the 2Min is limit by the SD card size. If you have enough SD space, no issue.

But best to take shorter clip and 'joint/edit' them to full movie of your creation.

There are 3rd party charger available which can charge this battery as well as a few other brands' batteries in the same charger. You can get one from the same place which sells the $38 original XZ1 battery.

Mind sharing the store's name? How much is the 3rd party charger? Pm me if its not convenient here. Thanks!

anyone check with Mini Challenger shop at Funan Level 2?
Last checked was 630 with 8 GB card by cash payment.
I wonder they can give lower than the PC Show and MS Color prices.
Realised PC Show, Challenger is promoting it at 648 with all free gifts

I was there few hours ago, was quoted $625 with 8GB card only, nothing else. Moreover, the 8GB card is standard item. You got a better deal.
In the end, I got it from the show because I need the battery.....the show was managed by Challenger, hence, different price and gift when you approached different guy at level 2 mini Challenger

Sighzzz... I just got a FB quote from MS color $599 incl GST with free 8gb card and battery........... Anyhow.. already bought it... now is time to start enjoying the camera.... for people who interested to get it...

Got my XZ-1 on the first day of the PC Show, not too much squeezing involved, took about 15mins from start to end.
