Happy CNY everyone.

Got a qn for you guys (I do not own a XZ-1 at the moment).

Dpreview review says we cant focus and recompose with the XZ-1 because of the lack of an AEL/AFL button.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/OlympusXZ1/

But cant we half press the shutter and recompose?

Thanks :)

Yes u can.
Dpreview must be so out of it if they did say somethg like tat

Thanks. Can you elaborate on the "quirks" pls? :)
for eg the low shutter speed when using auto iso. i would prefer a setting that can set minimum shutter speed and higher auto iso. also when viewing photos, a screen where the pic fills the screen and the photo exif is overlaid below.

To fill the screen, shoot in 3:2. U lose some pixels but it fills.

sorry, I meant the playback display where the picture takes up the whole screen but there is no info. I'd hope that there is an option to overlay the exif data like ISO and shutter speed and aperture also.

There is. Just press the 'Info' button.

hmmm...maybe shld make myself clearer. there are 3 playback screens, one is just the pic occupy the screen, one is pic occupy screen but with date and time overlay, and one is small pic showing the rgb histogram and exif. i feel that the first 2 screens are quite similar, maybe can remove one and replace it with a screen showing the pic occupying the whole screen showing aperture, shutter speed and iso overlaid below instead.

taken with a nikon sb700 external flash.

wow. :O

is this 100% crop or uncropped? :)

wah if that is 100% i think we can prepare to throw our DSLR alr!

Haha... Cannot be 100% Crop but does look like a 100% frame :)

Look at the DOF, how can it be a crop @ 100%?

very insightful information in the review and the crops provided from the photos are helpful too. thanks!

anyone knows what the diameter of the internal threads (For tele convertor) on the XZ-1 is? Feel like getting one of them JJC Auto lens caps and modding it to fit the Oly, not sure which to get though :p

Dear all,

I just got my white XZ-1 from AP Funan ;)

I experienced the same weird feelings about the poor implemented ISO Auto setting.

On top of that, here's one more quirk i find puzzling and hope you can help.

I normally set my cam to continuous shooting mode. But when i take photo using continuous shooting, all the photos will be stacked together as a pile. The only way to view them is to click "ok", and the cam will flash all the photos in the stack at 3FPS speed on LCD! I can't zoom into any of these photos (they are bundled as a stack), nor can i see individual exposure details, etc. Try activating the continuous shooting mode, shoot a few and view, and you will know what i mean. Any way to inactivate this weird image playback setting?

And, what does the "M" and "S" image size setting in the menu means? Can't find any effect on normal image taking after making changes to them.

Thank you for your advice in advance ;)

Its not a quirk but more a feature, like stacks in Lightroom or Mac OS, as to M and S, I believe they're medium and small, go through the manual, it has more or less all the answers to your questions

Thanks for the reply. May be i sua ku but this is the first time i encounter this feature after using many brands of PnS.
Usually when i take continuous shots, i would review the pics and delete whichever that is blur or miss the action. So with this "feature" i am not able to do this.

Other than that, i love the XZ-1 ;)

No worries, I haven't really shot continous shots with the XZ-1, and its not really a very common feature, only thing that I know that auto stacks the files is Mac OS, Lightroom have to manually stack it, didn't know the XZ-1 has this feature, so you're not sua ku ;) If like that sua ku, this morning then I realize that art filters can be combined in E-PL2 after having it for a week plus, wouldn't that be more sua ku? :bsmilie: We all learn something new everyday eh? Go out, shoot more and post in the gallery, spread the "love" aka poison

Just bought an extra battery for around $10.
