Olympus SP-550 18x Ultra Zooooom in stores today !!

Checked the 550 thing out at IT show today. Looks ungainly.
The base shows it is Made in Indonesia.
The 7070 was a much better design Made in Japan.

am impressed by this PNS cam.

However, not many sample photos for sharing here.

just some doubts:

1. Just how wide is the 28mm lens compared to the typical 35mm PNS
2. how good is the 18x as compared to the normal 3x PNS
3. How is it as compared to F31 (my current PNS) :think:

some dislike: 4 x AA battery, 460g,

4 AA batteries is a heaven. You could just replace the batteries from the convenient shop when yours dried up.

Proprietary battery is more expensive than the former.

35vs28 and 3xoptical vs 18xoptical significance is quite large and drama. You should give the camera a try.

Suntec is having some sort of camera display/sale. The cam is going for $849 with 2x 1gb Xd M-type cards.
