Olympus Prices at IT Show 2010 (incl E-PL1)

Anyone knows if the mft 9-18mm is available?

Not available yet anywhere

EPL1 no blue and red .

EP1 trade-in - any camera any condition.

Just gotten my EPL-1 from MS Colour at AMK Hub. $940 with kit lens and 8GB SD card, I paid by credit card, so it's $958. I think the price at the IT Show is rip-off at $998.

As I also bought some other misc stuff, I get the screen protector free and discount off a OP-Tech soft case for the EPL-1.

I do find it a bit small for my hands to handle though ...

why is it a rip off if its rrp?

It's a rip-off when you can get it cheaper at any shop as opposed to the IT show which advertises itself to be an opportunity for shoppers looking for good bargains.

hmmm.... good point, but ah well... not really much of a choice, besides,it was just the first day yesterday, and the E-P1 can trade in which is actually like

Got mine at Challenger (IMM) at $1348 for twin lens kit. Free gifts: tripod, cleaning kit, 8GB card, screen protector and heavily discounted camera bag (lowerpro). Also get points as I'm Challenger member. Definitely better deal than IT Show. The place was not crowded at all, service is good. I can spend all my time playing and testing the camera before deciding on colour and kit. Two available - one with only pancake lens and the other twin lens kit.

Hmmm.... Sounds pretty good... If only they have red.... I know of a person who is dying for red (hints to mojims )

erm, any idea of the single kit lens how much it is selling at challenger?

Was there and checked out the EPL1. Was disappointed that it was still so big. I was hoping for a better reduction in size. its only slightly shorter but also thicker. Looks like I will be keeping my F200EXR for a little longer :)
Overall the camera is very light but the menu is not as intuitive. The movie mode was stuck on some filter mode and I can't seem to find the controls to change it. But with a pancake lens in, I think it will still be a little more compact than a smaller DSLR such as the pentax K-x and Olympus E520.. :)

Retailers are obligated to sell at retail price under normal conditions so they compensate by giving out more gifts (although not in this case). But I think prices should drop a little on the last day. :)

What 'movie mode' were you looking for? Like any camera with a mode dial (on top of the camera), the Movie Mode could be found there. Also, the E-PL1 is the first Olympus m43 camera that has a dedicated Movie Rec button (the red button) on the back of the camera to start movie recording immediately.

Try bargaining at the ITshow?
Although I'm not a frequent visitor to pc shows, I do remember that the price are open to bargain.
The price can really come down as compare to listed price.

Since we know SLR selling at 809/898/1207 for the various kit (but no stock), let's see Bally will match or go lower?
If not, then wait for stock to come in to retail shops lor.

Hi
You got me wrong. i found the mode and activated it but the image is bw and grainy which I presumed is one of the filters being mentioned. I can't seem to find the menu or button to switch it back to nornal mode. The recorded video has this old bw grainy effect. Probably any Oly person will know but as a newbie to Oly, its not intuitive enough for me to figure it out within the 2 minutes I was playing with it. i think the natural thing to do is to press the "menu" button but that did not work either. :)

Mode setting can be accessed via Quick Menu activated by pressing 'OK' button. I agree that Oly users know this but I dont think its not intuitive. Its just about getting used to and knowing which button to press. In fact Oly's Control Panel/Quick Menu are as easy to use as other brands and sometimes even more modes can be adjusted there (esp on classic 4/3rds) that other brand's Func or Menu button.

I think its more of you being "rushed" to play with it since the IT show is quite crowded. But on normal situations I think its not that hard to figure out.

It looks like this. No different from Canon Func menu

Sharing my buying experience as follows:

I got my black e-pl1 on Thursday evening, 1st day on IT Show. Was initially quoted RRP, but I told them the best price outside (from SLR Revo). After some negotiation, I managed to get 1 additional original battery, 1 Vitacon UV filter, the basic 14-42 kit and std freebies for $1000.

Px could have gone lower, but I wanted to pay using credit card for cash rebates.

Certainly tink I got a fair deal, although it was not the lowest. Pity SLR sold off the only black pcs which I wanted.

Olympus has a great Super Control menu that can be displayed instead of the Quick Menu, and this is what I prefer to use. Canon has something similar called Quick Menu, but not yet as super, lesser options.
