Hi,

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question. I am just purchasing an Ep-1 with dual lens kit and wanted to find out if the camera is capable of IR photography? Would help me to think if this would be a keeper or I would still need to hold on to my trusty converted F31D...

Thanks in advance.

It is capable, sample below. But a converted camera probably is a better one.

How long was the exposure?

Thanks,

It was 10 seconds, ISO 400

Hi, glad to know it does ir decently. But do you know if it is possible to mod the ep1, or for that matter any other m4/3 camera to do ir?

getting my R72 filter today...will try with my E-P1 & share ;)

Hi Clubgrit,
Do u focus with the R72 filter on or off?
In the bright sun, I could hardly see the live view...so my focus was off.

I focus with it on. And not manual, but auto focus. It is not easy to see, but you can see the scene, and just move the AF point accordingly, and AF. You need some shade for E-P1, like a Hoodman Loupe, or a DIY deep "hood" like made of cardboard or something.

I have not tried any manual lens yet. But if I do, it will be on E-P2 with its brighter EVF.

Thanks,

My E-P1 couldn't AF, so have to do manual focusing. Rite, looking for a hood

I noticed an irritating point. with the panny 14-45 vario lens, on manual focus, once passed infinity, it goes back to minimum distance...like a loop. i wished it stops @ infinity.
