15. mike tatt - OM4 (shutter started messing up 2 weeks ago) 50mm f1.4 (iris started sticking a month ago) 35-70 (f4) 75-150 (f4) ext tubes, T32 flash - over 20 years use can't be bad - anyone know of a good & cost effective place for service / repair (UK - ideally NW) - would hate to see this gem go to waste - now gone 70&#37; digital but I still have a 30% craving for the 'real stuff' - maybe it's the chemicals - maybe it's the darkened room!! - maybe it's the thrill of seeing that image materialise in the way that we had hoped (in my case - sometimes - prayed) we had shot. :( Just found that the viewfinder kena fungus quite badly, lens also...wonder servicing will be how much? Else maybe just sell off!
 

I am quite keen on OM series
any one selling off their stuff or willing to loan OM3 for testing ?

mm..how come seldom see OM user trade their items? i am still looking for an OM..wonder is it difficult to get lens and accessory.

any recommendations to get for OM systems? which lens? and i read that flash photography is their strong area.

I think Maitani design this OM systems, with a plan to take everything..a slogan for OM system is from bacteria to universe something..

currently i am using a FM2.. but i just think maybe it will be too expensive to expand in nikon systems =)
 

OM demand in SG is small.

Those who picked up OM must have found something facinating and unique in the system, and thus more willing to stick with it.

If u put a nikon or canon lens, say 90, 180 or 300mm, side by side with the OM equivalent, u will understand y. Macro and Shift lenses, OM was the leader.

OM1 was the most compact SLR when introduced. Following behind, OM2/3/4 introduced with spot metering and/or better eletronic functions but with the same dimension and weight as OM1, none actually grow fatter or bigger. OM3 was the first fully mechanical SLR with spot metering.

U look at nikon or canon.. everybody gained weight... looking more like pillow or plactic bricks.

OM-1 is totally mechanical, OM-2 is electrical with auto exposure right? should i consider OM-3 or OM-4? any good features had added on?

If u can afford, get OM3T or OM4T. All have similiar built as OM1, weight and dimensions.
OM3T is fully mechanical version of OM1 with spot metering
OM4T is improved version of OM2Sp.
OM3/4 T or no T, have OTF and flash syn at all speed with F280 flash.
OTF was OM's innovation.
T for titanium body
OTF= Off-The-Film TTL light metering, sensor measures light reflected off the film for auto exposure.
OM2 is AE version of OM1
OM2sp spot metering version of OM2, but with battery leak problem.
OM1 has the classical look, uses Hg battery and metering is less responsive.. shutter flip sounds is rather "seductive".


My OM shots were all loaded at www.geocities.com/boochap. The scan qualities was lousy, was using minolta dual III last time.
 

is OM-3 and OM-4 much more expensive?

i am considering an OM-2n, is spot metering on OM-2SP useful? i read that SP stands for Spot-Programme, anyone can feedback of how is OM-2SP comparing to OM-2n? thanks.
