???Fast tele zoom is better for my application and Sigma is good enough for me.I am not a pro,no need for Leica.:bsmilie:The reason is....No $$$ and i will not pay US$1k for a standard lens.I mean ZD 50-200mm F2.8-F3.5,not Sigma one.

Ah... now I get it. It is good that you are level headed and not spending money just because you want a piece of gear but rather optimising what you can afford and need. I salute that.

That's what I mean, $$$ does not solve any problem, if you have need for a tele lens the 25mm is waste of money. That is why I also will get Sigma when the 135-400mm becomes available. However, the 50-200mm would just give me 50mm more than the 45-150mm I already have. Yes, I also have the 14-45mm which includes even the 25mm range but the Leica is f1.4 and that is really something else than f4.5.

On the other hand, if it will cost US$1k I may have to wait for stronger motivation and will to spend that much on one single lens. Then again, I thought the ED50 f2.0 was very expensive too, but ever since I received it, it is on my camera almost all the time except for the three weeks it was in the "Oly hospital". I prefer to take a few steps back instead of using the 14-45mm, so maybe if I had the Leica those two lenses would be THE two most used ones and I would not need tha 14-45 at all.

Will get a Sigma 30mm F1.4 after the 50-200.I have need for 30mm F1.4 but not in my first priority list.135-400mm is too slow for me.Do some low light motorsport,so F2.8-F3.5 is better. Also,i can't justify spending US$1000 on Red Dot since i am not pro.

how much can we expect to pay for the 12-60?

Probably a bit more than the 14-54mm.

and how much is that? haha sorry i'm clueless...

guess the 12-60 will make a great combination with the e510. but we'll have to wait till july...

did they announce when the new lens will be out?

I don't think it will be in July. If I am olympus, I will launch the new AF lens with the P1. Doesn't make sense to launch new lens with the new AF system without any body equiped to take adv of it.

It probably will be launched with the P-1 in Sep or Oct 07, possibly packaged as the kit lens.

Individually the lens will likely be about $900 - $1,000.

Is that in USD?

If sing dollars too cheap right? Then how much will be the 11-22mm? currently the 11-22 mm is retailing for 1k and on paper the 12-60mm seems significanly better, with the new AF and longer reach.

I hope they really drop the price for the 11-22mm. I am not sure if I should buy any lens now.... if the 12-60mm comes out, the prices of the 11-22 and 14-54 should drop quite a bit.

In fact looking a past history, the price drop usually precedes the launch of new products by a few months.... maybe there will be a lens price cut during the 510 launch.

I for one, don't think the 12-60mm will match up to the 11-22mm.

I also believe that the 11-22mm is the red-haired child; it was a developmental precursor to the 7-14mm. As such the 11-22mm has exceptional sharpness and contrast.

Pricing the 12-60mm at SGD 1,500 upwards IMHO would be suicide; it is a not a constant f2.8.

damn that means i'll have to wait till then. :(

I initially had my heart settled on a d80 + tamron 17-50 f2.8 till I looked at the e510 again when someone mentioned that olympus has improved upon noisy with the e410.

would really like to see how the image stabilisation and other features that the e510 boasts come into play, and played well at that.

coming from a fz5, i'd definitely love to have a great performing camera with live view and IS.

but if both the 11-22mm f2.8-f3.5 and the 12-60mm f2.8-4 SWD are at the same price... I think it is really going to be hard to sell the 11-22mm.

I don't think they'll keep the 11-22mm in production much longer (if still!).

I except the 12-60 price to be US$650(Street Price??).50-200 cost 800US,12-60 price cannot be too ridiculous.Or,no people is going to buy it.
