frankly I don't know why nikon is doing so well....

Canon has their low noise CMOS sensor, oly has live view/dust buster, fuji has DR, sony pentax has IS. What does nikon have? After my first DSLR which was a D70, I was never attracted back to nikon as there just wasn't anything special about it.

brand name...the yellow logo....and many pro use nikon..just like many consumer products in the market...

Buy already den dun compare just use it go get some great shots and show us..... we're waiting.... ;)

Folks, try not to let the thread degenerate into a "my camera is better than your camera" debate.

At the end of the day, it is on the onus of the consumer to do homework; you cannot count on salespeople to be knowledgeable/honest.

Let's not be flamebait people. ;)

I appreciate the discussions in here that is leading to comparisons with cameras from the other platforms. But I do appreciate if one would bring the discussion on specifics on other makes to their respective forums within the boards to further find out and investigate why they are better.

Cameras are tools, and whatever tools can still produce pictures, because having a good camera system (of your choice) and good shooting skill is one half of producing a good picture these days, the other half being able to buy the right post processing software (of your choice, again) and having the right skills to do manipulate the images on your computer. The camera system is very much a personal preference thing. I like Oly for the reasons I have stated many times within this boards.

If you are still curious about comparing what is good and bad, then I would suggest you join shoots organised by those in the workshop section, meet up with fellow photographers, shoot the same subject with the various camera system available there, meet up and compare the images. You will therefore get a much better idea on how every system fare. This is the best way, to compare from shooting a same subject under the same lighting condition. You will definitely get a much better idea and would greatly help you to make up your mind.

Or better still, go to the manufacturer and ask them about their strengths and weaknesses in their camera system (always ask the technical people, not the sales manager, unless he is honest and you know he is). You then hear it from the horses' mouth about their good and their bad.

The last option, is of course, hanging out and making friends at camera shops and ask the "old birds" for their advise.

hey guys, any thread that shows me the use and function of my new olympus E-500 camera?

thankz
