Thanks dorts, often times I'll just let the magic button 'I'm feeling lucky' on the Picassa2 to decide the WB for me. And then I'll just play with the adjustment layers (curves/saturation/colors balance etc....) on the PS.
The PP of this shot was pretty tough for me 'cos of the original desaturated and muted colors , eventually I decided on the cooler tone for the silhouette. Maybe I should try the warmer tone and see how it turns out .:dunno:

Honestly - these are the 2 best photos I've seen in a while... #3 especially calls to me and #2 captures a wonderful moment (although the crop for #2 could be slightly tighter to get rid of the darker top-left corner)

With respect to #1, the background looks weird - did you intentionally PP it to give a canvas like texture or is that a result of noise/re-sizing ?

You are right on #1, it was texturized to give a warm afternoon hazy look effect. Perhaps I have over done it.
For #2 the darker four corners were done intentionally to draw your eyes in.
As for #3 it was a lucky shot!
I'm glad you like the pictures!

I've heard that you're giving up Photography?
Funny! Come to think of it, I almost gave up on dSLR & Oly when I got it last September (Prosumer and compact user previously).
For 2 months I just couldn't take any decent pictures out of it! Sure there were a few 'con' issues with the cam but I've learned to work around it or overcome those 'limitation'. To be fair there are also many 'Great' features in the cammy that I love, that's why I bought them.
Well always keep shooting and drink more kopi sessions.....))
