Regarding the choppers, I would usually process it this way... (samples)

Skies are important and I will try to deepen them whenever possible. This is a quick and dirty job that I have done. Made multiple copies of the image in Photoshop, and use "darken" the layers to deepen the skies, made a mask on the chopper and let the bottom layer come through and process that layer (the chopper) separately. Unsharp mask for the chopper. Tweak to taste.
Thanks for the examples! Really love what you've done with this one. Have been trying to figure out a way to bring out the darkened details of the chopper, caused by the sun's position that morning. Will have to seriously look into using Photoshop (currently using Silkypix for RAW conversion) someday!
