Oly m4/3 9-18mm or Pan m4/3 7-14mm?

I need to plunge and get one for my trip to NY soon.

I just want to be sure - Would I lose out on any functions like IS/ Auto focus speed etc if I mount the Olympus on my GF1? Nay pitfalls? Anyone kind enough to advice?

If there are none I will go for Olympus. If yes, I will go for PAnasonic.

Tx

Well, it depends on whether you really want filters, and whether you want the wide focal angle of 14mm (35mm equivalent), and the constant f-stop, and finally whether you can afford the 7-14mm.

AF wise, the 9-18 is fast, not so sure about the 7-14 but it should also be fast, the 9-18 doesn't have OIS, IIRC,neither does the 7-14, just to add on to NazgulKing

I think the ability to use filters is necessary for a wide angle or at least for the photography that I am used to. So it'll be the 9-18 for me. The 18mm is actually quite useful (36mm), and very suitable for wide angle portraits.

Tx all...think I will go for Olympus!

:)Hi gents, I'm back in Honolulu for the week so I just bought the Oly M4/3 9-18,,,It was on sale this week for $599 USD plus Hawaii state tax %5...Any way I am super pleased with its ease of use, compactness, and apparent sharpness...It also appears to focus fairly fast... needless to say, I love it!!!:D

Cheers

9-18mm is also expensive, at least to me, HAHA. Pass by MSColor over the weekend, so, just ask for fun, they quote me 1148... haha...

Florence is boss. 40's I think, wouldn't call her auntie myself coz no big age gap btw us...haha. If u send e quote from their web, Florence usually answers at night. She is very friendly. But I think slr revo maybe cheaper, at least when o bought it 2 mths ago

That's weird. I was at MSColor last week and I just asked for fun. Thought the guy quoted me $950. I don't think I remembered it wrongly.

SLR Rev has stocks at $919 for the oly 9-18. just brought a friend to buy on Friday evening.

Based on SLR Rev's and an earlier TK Foto pricing, it looks like the MSC pricing is right (as SLR has always been slightly below the rest of shop, but not THAT low).

Are you sure you were asking for the micro four third version and not the four third version? I just happened to be there and saw the m43 logo on the lens and pointed it out and was quoted the price. Olympus has a 9-18mm for the four third (wonder why they release same focal length different products nowadays - so confusing).
