Used to frequent this place since I was a child. I'm really sad to see this place to be in such a state. It was bustling with activities then. Still remember 大眾百貨公司? My primary school, Hua Yi Primary School, has been torn down last year.

Yeah, the Tai Chung departmental store. Used to go there when i was a kid. Climbed the flight of stairs and the store has 2 units on the left and right. I think my dad bought me my first china made basketball (Gold Cup brand) from there - no budget for spalding or mikasa back then.

The kopitiam below Tai Chung has a goreng pisang stall if my memory serves me well..when the bowling alley was still in operation.

Hope the pictures will leave some memories for generations to come.

Margret Drive Primary School was torn down years ago too. I missed those good old days.

I use to frequent a hobby shop there when I was a kid, back then I often stared into their display counter looking at scale models of airplanes, tanks etc. All fond memories.

While Tai Chung was on the second floor, there was an Oriental Emporium (long liquidated) selling made in China food stuffs. And, yes, the goreng pisang was good then.

Thanks for the opportunity to re-live a part of my past for a brief moment.

No worries, glad to share these pics. We must be all in our 30-40s..time flies in the blink of an eye.

omg i happened to chance upon the area yesterday and if my eyes did not deceive me, the food centre's been boarded up already. ='(
think the ntuc closed sometime last month as well.

your photos brought back much nostalgia.

its gone... the hawker centre and blocks surrounding it is gone! Whats left is the queenstown cinema now.

With every ending, comes a new beginning. I can already see the renewal of Margaret Drive from the days of my youth.

The last ime I was there, the wet market building (with the chicken rice stall) was still standing. Is it still there?

I believe the chicken rice stall is still there. Just a matter of time when it gets torn down too.

Ohh...I din know my working place nearby got this shop leh....hahahaa

Yes,the wet market is still standing with a funiture shop upstairs and eateries below with gordy lights, baloons and air sock blowing to attract
customers, mostly the three churches nearby and Queenstown library users.

Renewal under way ,BTO flats coming up along margaret drive and the dawson vicinity pinacle look alike.Soon the quiet ambience will
go and more people, yucks.Just like any place else.Well nothing is static I guess.Soon the roads will be more congested and the PM who lives nearby will feel it himself when he goes to work daily. :)
