Tried my Leica lenses on the A7 at infinity again, now I am pretty sure that these do not make a good pair with the exception of the WATE. What other RF lenses perform well on the A7? I saw some nice photos from the 21 Ultron, not sure what aperture was used. Any other lenses?

I'm personally a fan of the 28mm Elmarit v3 from the samples i've seen...Hoping sony makes a 28mm prime.

Thanks a lot for the reminder.

Over excited hahha.
Wonder can speed boost an apsc lens on m4/3 in the future haha

Metabones is selling the speedbooster for M43 already

Agree with you on the out of focus background comparison between 35FE and 50lux. My 50lux is one of my favourite lens which has one of the best bokeh. However, the 35FE is not too far from this, though most people thought it is a F2.8 and will not create any nice out of focus. In fact, it could deliver quite smooth bokeh when shooting half portraits. Not the 50lux type, but very smooth and natural, not like those busy bokeh demonstrated by recent sharing in the A7 sharing site.

There again, 50lux costs 5times of 35FE.

If not comparing bokeh, and if you are shooting at 35mm focal length and loves general shooting style and street shots, the 35FE will be well loved. It is the sharpest 35mm lens that I have used, and details captured on the A7R really optimize the 36mp sensor. You cant get the same details with the kit lens, and if just comparing center sharpness, probably only Sigma 35mm ART comes close.

This is currently the standard lens which stays on my camera most of the time, as it delivers the sharpest detailed image than my other lenses while being small and light. Feels like my RX1r. Just that it is a lot louder in shutter sound.

Yup the corner of the 50 lux not very good. However the smoothness and sharpness at 1.4 is very nice extremely top notch and natural and color of OOC JPEG is much better than the 35mm FE Sony Len. To be frank there is also distortion on the extreme end of the Sony 35mm FE. So tend to shoot just off centre to get a better composition and depends also on situation.

Use noveflex definitely wouldn't be wrong.

Very disappointed with no cam IS, thus you need very steady hand and even for the Sony 35mm FE Len.

Lastly the video taken by the 35mm FE Sony is no good. If you shoot video with the lux 50, then you understand why the Sony 35mm FE is lousy. In short, video taken by lux 50 is so clear and smooth and the out of focus background is beautifully thrown off and the object very 3D in my opinion.

I love the RX1 (now RX1R), so I think I know what the 35FE is all about based on your comments. I just tested my Leica Ms shooting some portraits and they all look fine to me at the widest aperture, just as I expected of Leica lenses. No worries about the borders or corners since everything is out of focus anyway. If anyone here is wondering about the MATE, I tested the it again at infinity, the 28 has slight smearing at the edges and corners but 35 and 50 looks fine.

Hi guys

I have a question regarding the AFC with Object Tracking.

The green box seems to shift out my focus point at times and the box becomes bigger and smaller and I have no control over it.

Why is that so?

Sigh. Screen protectors still out of stock at Sony Wisma

I think got to do with the contrast area and also if u are manually zooming by ur legs. Object become smart or bigger. The box probably indicate their programming where it feel the same box is of similar contrast and on the same plane ?

Just a guess

With object tracking, it negates your preset AF points if you're using Spot AF or Local AF. it uses all your AF areas to track the object.

OMG!!! I just discovered that the Smart Remote App only takes JPGs!!!!! I always shoot in RAW+JPG

They should rename this App DUMB Remote App. Think I need to get the remote.

Update: Stupid me... there is a way to change the settings. Its just the default switches to this overwriting the camera's settings.

Bro, relax la... where did u install the smart remote app into? IOS? Android?

iOS. Sigh. I, on purpose, over exposed the centre of the frame as I wanted more light from my flash at the edges. Now the centre is washed out

A review if the 35 2.8 FE. Din realize that if AF on A7 was not that great, it's worse on the A7R. Interesting.

I disagree on one point with the review though - I LIKE the lens hood. Dun see any frustration in using it.

The hood is ugly but the small footprint makes it always on my lens. More convineient than the usual lenshood which got to be stored in reverse.

Will be even better if they are retractable like Pentax one . Haha those are my fav.
