I notice when I first got the a7 everytime I take a picture, there is a review on the lcd panel. After playing around with the settings, this review is gone.

Which setting should I change ?

There's a setting called auto review...there's 2 sec, 5sec and off i believe..i set mine to 5sec

Is there a setting that will use the EVF for taking photos only. Display of the menu and play the photos on the LCD only. I find it a nuisance when it auto switches between EVF and LCD, especially when you hang it around your neck. And you can only select to use all on either EVF or LCD, not selectively.

yeah press the display button , until it shows the LCD settings , like that of the A99. Then it will just black out when your eye is at the evf, and toggles back on when your eye is off.

User of the 35mm F2.8 lens..do you use the hood or no hood?
I want to add a filter but realised if i add a filter on the lens, the hood can't be used.
If i use the hood, the filter size is 40.5mm
But honestly the hood is pretty darn ugly. I prefer the look without the hood and all the nice zeiss wordings can be seen :)
I don't think the hood is useful really...but they did supply one so there must be some reason behind it..wonder what that it.

If you want to show off the wordings on the lens, you can use the lens hood for RX1.

Can't seem to find any information on third party manufacturers on E-mount full-frame glasses. Has anyone came across any report yet?

I can't wait to get a wide-angle lens on the a7R.

Apparently, some rumours on Zeiss potentially making E mounts manual lenses. They could well refine their ZM lenses onto e-mount versions.

imagine all the Distagons and Biogons e mount lenses .....

I gave up on the hood. And the flimsy lens cap on the cap is lost 20mins into using the lens. I think i dropped it when i was putting the camera back into my bag , must have hit the sides and came off without me noticing ....

Weird, I actually like the 35mm hood.

I have a filter and the hood attached to the SEL35f28Z lens at the same time.

if any one organizes a get-together for shooting, then i am in. Plenty of free time in Dec :-)

Me too. Lens hood and filter at the same time and toss the lens cap in the camera box in store room :-)

Oh, i didn't know you could still use the hood with a filter..i thought it was some special mount..I've not have a filter on yet, i'm still waiting for my b+w filter to arrive. And yea, most likely i won't use the hood..like what digitalrev said, it looks more like a lens foreskin :)

i set one of the buttons to turn off the lcd so it doesn't come on at all..i only use the evf and the sreen only when necessary so i turn it off most of the time

Another newbie question:

On my d90, once I lock on my focus on the centre (half press shutter ), when I shift my focus to the side, the green box stays on my focus point. On my a7, the green box still at the center although the focus point is already of center.

Is there any settings I can do?

Did you actually move the active focus point to be off centre?

I want the LCD to come on when displaying menu or review, not auto toggle between LCD and EVF. For shooting, I only want to use EVF. I guess you cannot specify what each can do.

Sorry what Focus area mode are you in ?

did u try pressing the display button until the LCD shows only the shooting settings without liveview any more ? Its the DISP logo, which is the top button of the ring dial you use to change ISO

Yes I did. The pictures came out the way I wanted. Just not used to the green box not staying with my focus point. It's perpetually in the center even when I de compose my shot
