I got my a7r with the black rubber attached. Sent in sat, got it today (Thursday).

Pros
- looks more discreet as a street camera

Cons
- not sure if the rubber will last with long exposure in the sun in a few year's time?

On the receipt, it says $90 but waived because it is under warranty. Mine was bought in MY but they honor it anyway.

my concern is also on the longevity of the rubber ring, it might not last and get sticky, and to me it spoils the look of the cam too.

I on the opposite dislike the orange colored mount and love the new sleeker look lol. Subjective la

what happend to your a7?

I just got my a7 back from servicing yesterday. I highlighted the light leak issue before sending in. But they did not give me the ring when I got it back. I also forgot to check when I got it back yesterday. Sigh...

oh so it's removable? then why need to send the camera to service centre, then take a few days for them just to fit?

if it can be taken off, then just slip it in when the need arises, am surely ok with it hoho! but for free kopi from you bro, i can sacrifice.ツ

hahaha yes! removable. they want the set to be checked in so they can physically inspect whether there is a lightleak. certain serial numbers onwards it seems the leak was "fixed" internally.

haha anytime you wanna lim kopi just tell me. can meet ard the workplace if you happen to be near raffles or at orchard 313 kekeke

Sent it in to replace shutter button. Also highlighted about the light leak and rubber ring issue.

They replaced my shutter button, buy no rubber ring
