finally got my A7 back from service centre after sending it in for a laggy EVF sensor and wanting to resolve the light leak issue once and for all.
Updates:
Other than fixing the light leak issue, I like the clip in that it hides the orange mount of the camera and of course, that it attaches tightly over the release lens button; unlike some other rubber band solutions bandied outside.
For CS-ers, if you wish to send you unit in to Sony. Pls do so by sending it in the 313 branch. Ask for the body to be checked for light leak issues and say that you are from the same photography forum where you read about this clip being given free as a solution. Show them this post if need be as the customer service guy who served me today was still 100% clueless about this fix.

Sony wasn't willing to share this info , hence to be clear ; just send the body in. I'm only pretty sure the A7S doesn't suffer from this issue thanks to a very rigorous test done by a bro here
