there's always some affordable Leica glass believe it or not Most R lenses are within reach by most of us here is anyone could buy FE55/1.8, FE35/2.8 FE70-200 or FE2470/F4 could also buy a great Leica R lenses. of course it wont be as small as M lenses.

Leica bodies are of slightly different story though hehe

M lenses r really compact but heavy, U can really feel the weight of the glasses and brass body. That aside, R lenses r getting pricey nowadays too, thanks to you bro... :bsmilie:

This is correct, thought it's really a warped sense of thinking. Even among my Leica user friends , there are ones who buy to use and those who just buy to collect.

For example , true life story: Can u imagine my 0_o ?! when I saw the buyer of my 35 Summilux taking out a magnifying glass with a led light and later a led torch when he was checking my ex-lens ?

I would have taken d lens apart n place each glass element under a microscope to ensure no bacteria or fungus. Just saying. Haha

Bro , u forgot to sterilize the glass by applying saliva on it.

Errrr....not too sure he is collector or user... but very sure he has a warp sense of what is a great lens and what is not. I think the first thing to do is to check the quality of the image right? U can shine all sort of light into the glass element and find all of them perfect but ultimately, if the pic quality is not what u like, u don't buy it! Old lenses, especially Leica seems to have quite a huge variation lens to lens compared with the same period SLR lenses. is that because it is hand made? Or less machine made and most of the early Leica buyers are users so most of them has repairs, cleaning and re alignment throughout? U could say that to the SLR lenses as well but I see a lot more consistency in say Rokkor lenses than Leica.

bro where to get this L-bracket? what brand is it? was looking for something like this and saw yours design very nice... like it cos it kinda extend the grip as well for my big hands

Actually, this is the correct way to check if the lens has scratches or cleaning marks. Sold one of my Leica lens to a shop at Peninsula last year and this is the same procedure.

Price of the mint lens will stay high for collectors looking for mint set. Again, this is not for all, just for collectors, since most users will just go for a more decently priced set which can deliver the results.

Leica collectors collect lens and cameras for appreciation, especially those limited edition set with precious metals.....

Limited edition sets, or some limited lenses are sold frequently for good profits. Wont see that happening for other brands.

Hi guys...

I wonder if anyone is using Sunwayfoto L bracket on their sony A7 + La-ea4 adapter and have problem mounting the camera in their tripod horizontally? The adapter basically blocks the tripod clamp from reaching the L bracket. Is there a way to counter this?

Yup.. Using the L-Bracket with LEA4 will block the tripod clamp. What I do is to put another quick release clamp or L-Bracket on to the LEA4 itself.

Agree with what u say and what shop do or so call collector do. But we all use collector loosely. The collector I know of buys the Noctilux new 3 copies as an example. They seldom go to second hand store to buy. If they sell, they sell to fellow collectors, people with room full of cabinet and mint unused set of Contax, Leica etc. If they ever go out of their house to look at a 2nd hand lens from B&S, they do not carry torch or look for scratches haha. I met one collector, one look and he tells me my rigid cron, which is mint by any standard, has a slight discrepency in the colour between the top lens portion and the bottom portion and he suspect somebody might have swap the parts to make that lens mint. We had a really good chat, no mention of money or lens after that and certainly do not even need flashlight haha. Just sharing cheers

In short , there are also different 'collectors' among what we call collectors. What I can say is I'm glad my 'collector' friends belong to the latter as what overworked has described.

China clone of the RRS L plate on ebay
