I have a mint, almost unused copy of the zoom and u really want to know if it is better than the Minolta prime 24 mm f2.8??
Its inferior but then, its a zoom so its convenient. In the 80s, there is no zoom that is better than a well designed prime.
Even today, with computer design and what not, prime is still better quality overall.

Wahhh....no show me bro hahaha...ok what i mean is it is near to prime quality or cant compare at all? Definitely prime is better than zoom. But this lens seems not bad in sharpness...

And if u are talking about legacy 24-50 zoom, there are 2 that comes to mind that is as good, if not better than the Minolta 24-50.

First is the Vivitar series 1 24-48 zoom (cheaper than the Minolta zoom) and the Nikon 25-50 AIS zoom (a bit more ex than the minolta).

The Minolta zoom is no 3 for me in this range.
Cheers

If near is good enough for u, then no need to ask right? Haha the Minolta 24mm f2.8 is one of the highest ranked legacy prime 24mm. I used quite a few and if I had to choose a 24 mm for my desert lens, I think I will pick this even over the Canon FD 24mm f1.4.

I guess better stop...wait poisoned by u again...lolxx...anyway thx bro for the info...i just got this 24-50...let me play awhile first...thx thx

This zoom is not that cheap, for the price and the size, should just get the prime. Rokkor files review is good but remember its on film camera.

Ya true bro...i only saw u selling after i bought it...:(

Permit me to lor sor a bit.

My humble take on the subject of legacy lenses on A7 cameras, u need just 3.

1. Minolta MC Rokkor X 24 mm f2.8 (55 mm filter size)
2. Minolta MD 50mm f1.2 or MC Rokkor 58 mm f1.2 (latest version if possible)
3. MD 85 mm f2.0 (49 mm filter with the latest coating).

It will satisfy almost all your needs and they are reasonable price, less than the FE 35mm and FE 55mm.

If die die must have something longer, than the SMC Pentax 135mm f2.5 to complete the collection. IF u get all 4 lenses (50mm and not 58 mm), the cost is less than $2k including adapters. Best bang for the bucks. Last poison for the day before I sleep cheers.

Wah this one put on Sentosa Silo can repel enemies man

It's gonna cost about 2k SGD when it's here

nooooooooooooooooo! :(

Shld be around 1600-1800 ba

the cost in SGD for a Japanese set is $1,729.72 (Sony Japan)
the cost in SGD for a US set is $1,720.03 (Sony USA)

if you compare the price of the SEL2470Z in Japan and USA, they're SGD $1,371.40 and $1,528.85 respectively. Singapore's price is $1599.

If you think about it, we're more or less pretty much bench-marked to the US price. so it might be lesser than $2000

my cheaper (and wider) alternative:
